I believe USF is playing an exhibition schedule in the Spring 2024.

Oh--that's interesting. Who against--do you know? D1, 2, 3?

Doubtful it will include any D1 programs, assuming teams will be limited to how many games they can play. I’m not positive but suspect D2/D3 and international teams. I believe their Fall Ball schedule is made up of all FL programs, including FL and top ranked D2 programs. I’m just taking a guess here, but I expect their 2024 Fall Ball schedule will include more D1 programs as they prepare to begin play in the AAC in Spring 2025. Their new on campus stadium will be shared with football and should be ready for play sometime in 2026.

MD put out their fall schedule a couple days ago. Includes a scrimmage date with BC among other teams at the US Lacrosse headquarters on Oct. 7.

Any idea how teams are doing so far in their fall ball games?

Hard to read into results without watching a game. Some coaches play to win; others don't .

Others will use a predetermined rotation, eg starters 1st and 3rd quarters. Some will play their freshman the most just to "see what they got".

Watched a game last weekend when my daughter's team had a big lead in middle of Q3, pulled its starters then ending up losing. Not the worst thing in the world. Keeps the team hungry and for some girls these may be the only minutes they get all year.

I know this is a forum about fall ball. My observation after watching both men’s and women’s fall ball is that the product you see in fall ball bears little resemblance to what you will see for teams in the spring. In the fall, everyone plays, starters mixed in with subs to see how sub does with on field talent level, 5 quarters, etc etc. in the spring, lineups are pretty locked in, less than half the team plays at all, chemistry is developed etc.
As an observer, I think fall ball is helpful to see who looks good on an individual basis (does this first year play at a high level, etc), but much less helpful (or not at all helpful) in sizing up the trajectory for spring.
The one exception that proved the rule for me was unc women two years ago. Their level of play in fall ball was incredible. Rolled out line after line of fast skilled players. And it showed in the spring…..

my experience is that fall ball is incredibly important for 1) talented freshman and 2) kids who may be on the bubble of playing or not.

For returning starters, its just about having fun and getting some reps.

Completely agree. First real, if you will, competition against a D1 opponent. Meaningless, yes, but those youngsters are out to give it their best. Many years watching fall ball (mlax) prior to the indoor facilities that are closed to the public. You can get a pretty good idea of what your team is looking like, far from the finished product but you can still take a lot from fall ball.

DMac, are both Syracuse teams closed off from the public for fall ball?

Yes, been bummed about that since the day they opened that facility.
You know I'd be there watching both the M and W laxers if it weren't closed
to the public. Nattie probably wishes I was there too. ;)

Can't you just call the HC of the women's team and get a spot to watch? I thought you were kinda connected over there? Or am I mixing her up with the nice bartendress in Liverpool?

You'd actually think the HC would be calling me to make sure I'm up on times and dates and to let me know she's got a spot there for me, but nope, nota.
As for the 5'10" ex wlaxer (for about a half an hour) bartendress in Liverpool, I have to take my Alfie over on Monday so she can see it. Was wearing this shirt ($4.95 at the Thrift Store...lucky find) last visit, she took notice and I asked if she had noticed they were wooden sticks. She said, yup, I've got one at home (her father's) so she wants to see my Alfie. Told her I'd bring it over and let her touch it. Gonna have to get a picture, take the flower out, put the stick in. Monday's forecast holding strong at near 60, very slim chance of rain...gotta love that porch.

Not fall ball but Super Sixes Tourney going on now.
USA-Haudenosaunee, 6-5 Haudenosaunee at the half.
Can see it here.

7-7 end of 3.

Thanks for the link. Love watching any type of lacrosse, but the more I watch Sixes the more I dislike it. It’s sloppy and reckless and not nearly at pretty of a game as regular lacrosse. I can’t express my distaste for it enough.

13-9 USA, final.
Cuse girls come up with some big goals down the stretch...Levy and Hawryschuk (had 5, I think).
USA-Canada at 4.

Not my favorite wlax game either but that's all we've got at the moment.

Very true. I’ll take this over nothing.

Agree. I dislike it as well. Unfortunately think they will be heading there. At least in the Olympics.

7-3 Canada at the half. Only one goal scored in the 2nd.
Dana Dobie is too much, still fun to watch.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yffT5_3Cy-E

11-5 Canada, 3 to go in the 3rd.
Spence, GK for Canada stellar.
Moreno for USA not so much.

Canada 14-10, final.
Little run by the US in the 4th but Canada definitely the better team
Few nice saves on Mastroianni shots (scored a few too), GK play was
a pretty big difference in this one. No Maddie Baxter for the Canadians?
