So nice to not hear the useless blathering of espn announcers. What an enhanced experience!

Are there any issues signing up in Feb and canceling in April/May?
yes, you can do monthly. I posted link in Cuse thread yesterday.

I just now watched that announcer-less game,

streaming service should offer this option,
keep the field level mikes open, filter out
the announcers -

you’re more involved in the game
tracking numbers and players.

I think Cotter and Quint together do a good job. The Loyola announcers did a nice job too. To me, it is the combination of Anish and Carc together that is the most annoying. And the Newhouse young kids trying to imitate Anish need to find a different lacrosse announcer to emulate. Announcers in general need to be balanced to both teams. Provide some play by play and let people watch and enjoy the game.

Agreed...we shouldn't hold our breath for an option like this though. But just having the open mic picking up ambient sound, sans announcers, was great!

Anyone remember this? (Wikipedia entry):

Announcerless game

The announcerless game was an American football contest played on December 20, 1980, between the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. As an experiment, the NBC television network broadcast it without assigning any commentators to cover it. The two teams were playing the last game of that season for them as neither had qualified for the playoffs, and since the game was being broadcast nationally NBC executive Don Ohlmeyer decided on the idea to boost what would otherwise have been weak ratings. The Jets won a 24–17 upset victory.[1]

To replace the announcers, the network used more on-screen graphics than usual and asked the public address announcer at Miami's Orange Bowl to impart more information than he typically did. Efforts to use more sensitive microphones and pick up more sound from the field, however, did not succeed. While the experiment did increase the telecast's ratings, it was widely regarded as a failure since it did not provide sufficient context for viewers. No network broadcasting any major U.S. professional team sport had ever tried it again, except through alternate feeds of games offered with announcers,[2] until a July 3, 2022, MLB game on Peacock between the Royals and Tigers.

Boyle has been underrated for a long time. Flanagan from unc also did a great job. Carc was better as the field guy when eamon did the broadcasts w/quint.

Boyle is the best! Quint certainly knows the game but his blather is too much. Carc is the same as Quint to a lesser degree. I don’t want to hear about their lunch, gardens, workouts, clothes, school stories etc I know where they played and they were very good blah blah.
Anish has an announcers voice but adds nothing but dodo to the broadcast. Joe B and Boyle together on all games would be All Star maybe Hall of Fame!

Not to be argumentative, but Boyle is underrated in the same way that 2009 Matt Abbott was underrated. Everyone was saying how great he was, just like everyone here likes Boyle.

Live Streams

Question: Are there live streams during lacrosse games? i.e. Everybody and their brother has a website, twitter feed, podcast, etc. Does anyone(s), for example, have a discussion, commentary during a game? (Besides televised games with the pros and YouTube games with some college/high school kid.) We might read posts going back and forth between 2-3 post-ers during a game. Why aren't we listening to those same 2-3 guys talking to each other during a game?

Power trio

Boyle, Beninati, Medhurst (Voice of Navy and Big10 Lax games with Joe Beninati).

Completely agree with everyone regarding the the announcerless UVA-Michigan game. That first half was like sitting in the stand; you could here so much. It can't be hard to offer that option since for some events ESPN has regular, aerial, and Spanish options.
