Wow, hadn't noticed Emily and Sam wide open over there. I think the pass would've made it through there too unless Moreno intercepts it, there's no one else who's going to though. I also think that if Adamson had driven the ball to the ground, like driving a stake with a sledgehammer, she puts it past Moreno's feet (MT likely would have reached with a shot along those lines). Very easy to see from the couch with a cup of coffee and instant replay. Not being critical here, I get the heat of the moment part. Everything comes in high, the pass, the catch and the shot and Moreno's eyes are on it all the way...had to drive it low, and yes another step would have helped too. I actually thought my new favorite was going to shoot it when she made her drive. Put one in earlier on a similar drive, thought for sure she was going to do it again for her fourth of the day. Was a good play, good play by the GK too.

ONW, you put a goal celebration of a player somewhere on these threads. Here's a good on for ya,
I like this one, this gal is calling for the ball wayyy out front, wants it. Drives, scores, hits the deck.
What I like is that she's damn near getting back up before she hits the deck. Click on at the 1:30:30
mark. Don't know what's going on here but the mark time seems to change every time I run this, maybe the commercials come into play here? It's the 18th goal, around 2:34 left in the 3rd.

Nice celebration. The way some of the players express themselves after goals is fun to watch. Their exuberance is winsome.

Agree, I like the stick drop and celebration.

This is a remarkable interview with Janine Tucker. What a dynamo! Bursting with life and humor and not a few very touching stories.

Non-competitive games, in my opinion, are when there is a running clock in the middle of the third-quarter.
I do not have a problem with coaches playing their best players and playing to win for the majority of the game. But there comes a time when you need to get your starters out, and your younger kids in. Subbing your starters at this time creates two positive coaching aspects….you’re starting players got their stats and are out and cannot get injured, and your younger kids get some valuable playing time and experience.
This is solely my opinion, but unfortunately, from what I have observed watching games live and on the ESPN app, not many coaches follow this philosophy. Higher level D1 coaches seemed more worried about padding stats for tewarrton and All American candidates, and propping up younger hyped kids for future career stats and awards, than any type of sportsmanship, or getting playing time for the younger 2nd tier players. Thinking big picture, IMHO, this trend is just plain sad.

I streamed an NCAA playoff game a few weeks ago, where a starting player was still in the game in a 20 goal differential game during the last minutes of the game?

Note: Not to be confused with Coaching Carousel

I figured that it would be a good idea to start a topic where coaches can weigh in on subjects that they know more about than the rest of us non-coaches. I gather that a few of the members are or have been coaches at one point. So—I am copying a question from another topic over to here with a slight emendation.

I know this topic has come up before but I can’t remember if any of the coaches or former coaches who frequent this site have weighed in. If you fit that description, would you mind giving your opinion? I’m sure all of us would be most appreciative. It would be much more satisfying rather than this endless guessing and kvetching.

Why do other coaches leave their starters in when the game is no longer competitive? Why aren’t bench players getting more minutes during blowouts?

Whaddaya say, Coach?
