Sowers first team shows you the vote is bases on popularity. 8th in assist, 11th in points, 50th in goals, maybe one big game all year. Great all time player but not deserving of first team 2021.

I am anything but a Duke fan however, who should replace Sowers on the team and why? Using only stats to choose a team is really sketchy because it doesn't take into account the competition those stats were achieved against. Do you think any of the final 4 coaches, who might play Duke wouldn't be more worried about the Sowers matchup than against a player like Caraway, also on the 1st team? Caraway is a fine player but not in the same league as Bernhardt, Sowers or Gray. Sowers gets so much attention that he is really effective, not only in points, but also freeing up others to make plays by occupying so much defensive attention.

Other than his freshman year when he only had 41 assists, Michael Sowers was + 50 assists a year and was averaging 6 assists ppg last season. I wonder why his assists totals were down this year?

I don't agree with the DPOY award. Down year for him.

Nichtern from Army has better stats in Assist, Goals, Points per game, in common opponents Cuse, Virginia, Loyola, he has better stats. He also is pretty good at drawing attention and freeing up others to make plays.

I’m neither a Duke not Princeton fan, but Sowers deserves first team. St Pat was close. Who else would you choose instead of Sowers?

I searched for Hopkins and was surprised it came back with zero. I thought maybe the Jays' stars Epstein and Williams might get honorable mentions especially since that category is extensive and often seems to be the reward for an overall good career even if this year might be down. I was wondering how long it had been since no JHU player was on the list. Interesting.

I would have thought Kavanagh over Sowers on the first team. Sowers picked it up a little in recent games but he seemed not as outstanding throughout the season, but that's relative to the super high expectations of him coming into the season.

Interestingly, the category that I thought Sowers would be much higher than Kavanagh in -- assists per game -- Kavanagh is higher. And the category that I thought Kavanagh would be higher than Sowers -- goals per game -- Sowers is higher.

Guess we shall find out soon enough about Harris and Sowers.

Surprised Harris was 1st team lest DPOY. Would have had Grill or Makar in his spot.

Like to see it but doubt Harris assigned Bernhardt. Duke has lacked a truly top defender since Van Rapphorst left.

Virginia, Carolina and Maryland all led the AA list with nine apiece. Next with eight are Duke (rounding out the Final Four teams) and Georgetown. Syracuse had seven, and Notre Dame had six.

Yes! It's a lot "easier" to get AA recognition on a top 5 team. Tierney made Hofstra relevant.
