Looks like Loyola will get another shot at Syracuse in round 2.

Looking back, covid hurt Loyola more than any other team. The Greyhounds were going like gangbusters when the season shut down in 2020. They were beating everyone and there was real talk and expectation of the Hounds making the Final Four. But they were never able to regain the mojo in 2021. They started the season off with two very disappointing and embarrassing losses to Syracuse and Towson and never recovered. They barely made it past Hofstra in the 1st round of the NCAA's only to get blasted with another running clock embarrassment from Syracuse--the season bookended by two Orange demolition jobs (18-6 and 20-8). Can't blame Loyola fans/players/staff if some feel bitter about covid and what it took from them.

Dartmouth. And, like all Ivies, they lost 2 seasons. The recovery will not be fast or easy. Made even more so due to the potential impact to recruiting. Bad news.

I'd just view it as Gabby being happy for her sister Livy. Gabby doesn't have any eligibility left, so I think it's safe to say she isn't coming back to Duke.

That’s right. I got my Rosenzweig sisters mixed up. Thanks again, wlaxphan.

In that case...the photo in the story was taken directly from a post on @loyolawlax, the program's official instagram page, and the caption reads: "We are so excited to have Livy Rosenzweig- ATK, Elli Kluegel- MF, Sam Fiedler- MF, Kaitlyn Larsson- GK, & Maria KisKis- DF back for another year!" So I think it's a safe bet

Hounds look like they have scheduled the same OOC teams again this year. Smart move pushing Cuse to the middle of the schedule. We will see if the slow start that has cursed the Hounds in the last few years will happen again. Hop looked in good in Fall Ball

Agreed on the Syracuse game; it should be a better contest if both teams are ready, battle tested, have some recent film to review, etc.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Loyola has scheduled roughly the same group of teams for OOC play over the last 7 years. (I only went back that far.) The difference this year is Virginia being swapped out for Penn. Seems an easier schedule due to some of the regular teams aren’t at a strong place because they’re either coming off the Ivy League shutdown (Princeton, Penn) or they had a down year last season (Penn St, Georgetown). Interesting that since 2016, some years the Hounds schedule Syracuse in April (or late March like this coming season) and other years in February. I think the Hounds have a good opportunity to get off the schneid versus Syracuse this year with the Orange getting used to a new coach. I don’t know how much of a strategist Hounds coach Adams is but the game in late March will certainly be a marquee game for that Tuesday in the Dome next year. (As an aside—think any Syracuse opponents for next year will be watching game film against Boston College in the NCAA final to see how to beat the Syracuse zone? Of course, who knows what kind of defensive philosophy Treanor will install…). In any event, the Hounds would love to break Syracuse’s 7 game winning streak against them. The game against Syracuse and the one against Florida are the only teams I see giving Loyola a tough time next year. Florida will be looking for revenge as the last two outings vs the Hounds have resulted in losses, the last time (2/22/20) an 11 point beat down in Florida.
