I haven't heard this, could you elaborate what you meant by "bad match?" She seemed to be finding a lot of success very quickly...

Tufts has nothing to lose by playing this game, they aren't supposed to win....nothing but upside.

Dartmouth has no upside, they are supposed to win...but if they lose, its a big deal.
This covid ravaged season where the entire Ivy League has been cancelled? I seriously doubt that. I'm sure they're all glad to be out on the field playing but I doubt they attach much weight to it either way. Both teams know well enough that if this was a normal year, they wouldn't play each other, 1. And 2, if they did, Big Green would roll, easily.

Agreed, I don't think either has anything to lose here. I think both are just very excited to be playing.

Success is not measured only in W-L record and again, she was dealing from a stacked deck in terms of personnel. Coaching in the Ivy’s is not akin the coaching in a power 5 conference and Spencer found the more “do it yourself” nature hard to adjust to. She also had turnover in her staff. I could go on, but the lax world is small. Track down a friend of a friend who was close to the program during her tenure. Hope she is happier at Stanford and wish her the best in her future endeavors.

watched the first half of this game - the Tufts goalie is legit good was extremely confident. The freshman goalie for Dartmouth also had a very nice game given it was her first college game.

Liked the run & gun style of Tufts, fun to watch and you could tell the team was very well coached and has real talent on the roster.

This game is symbolic of how badly the Ivy League has handled this entire situation this season. Athletics are not a priority. Be thankful you are getting an elite education.

Well put. And hindsight bears you out. In light of how the season has gone so far, and how all the other conferences have handled this season, it's obvious the Ivy could have played without any disasters as the rest of the NCAA has demonstrated all year. Very frustrating for all concerned, except for the muckety-mucks in their Ivy (sic) tower who made the poor decision to fold 2021.

I think that this thread is severely underestimating the amount of talent in the NESCAC. Some kids just don't want to play a division 1 sport, or want to play multiple sports, want to study abroad, etc. There is of course something to be said about the fact that Dartmouth lost a bunch of players to graduation/transfers (i.e Katie Bourque to UNC), and the fact that tufts has live games under their belt, but most likely all of the starting lineups at top NESCAC schools could have played d1. Many of them are former Division 1 commits that opted out for whatever reason. Back when Trinity was a Final 4 contender almost every year, their goalie was a former top 10 d1 commit. I have seen division 1 transfers sit on the bench for a season or two in the NESCAC. A cool game either way, and great for the Dartmouth seniors.
