Regarding Parler itself ...

... do we really need another mass social media outlet for far-right idiocy and ignorance?

Not when Rebekah Mercer is backing it. She can lose money for a long time and is clinical.

Trust me, if it stinks, it’s gone. People Aren’t sinking that type of money long term into something that you can’t monetize.

Is that really it? Possibly for some. But new social medial pops up regularly when users get tired or annoyed. If you've been on Facebook or Twitter and seen the way they censor messages/throttle trends, it makes sense to me.
You’re kidding right? The crowd I’m talking about isn’t exactly early adopters of technological progress, Facebook is for old people twitter skews younger, the rest the Facebook crowd doesn’t know how to use.

Social media -conceptually for remote maintenance of existing relationships not for politics. Of course for 85%+ of it, with Parler run by a right wing political operative, is about finding an easier echo chamber to jerk off to.
Real patriotic freedom is being able to use your dogs name or password123 for all your passwords forever!!!

It's like a never ending stream of N-words, F*g, death threats, and other things lovely people are saying to each other.

It's also great seeing the Proud Boys using a photo of the women's march in lieu of their sad Maga March turnout.

Just read this morning of Mercer involvement.

What could possibly go wrong?

So lets get this straight.

American citizen who supports Trump starts company that has a "reported" 8M users. Frenzy ensures about the app being able to post right leaning democratic news, uncensored content, and track user data.

China has company that can pump content directly onto the phones of 80M US users (mostly minors), tracks user data, and can read clipboard info. Frenzy ensues about potentially limiting access.

Makes sense.

Starting to realize that viewing the world through a partisan lense may not be the best way to go through life, are we? ;)

I will say this, though-----if you're a criminal or say, Putin----how stoked are you that millions of some of the most gullible and vulnerable Americans put a stake in the ground with Parler and said "We're right here! Do your worst". I mean---look at the complaints over passwords.

Price of the 1A. Parler is free to do this.

And I find the discussion on changing laws to make social media sites (including this one) liable ONLY if they act as an editor is just about to the dumbest thing we've ever proposed as a nation. We'd be incentivizing sites to allow criminals and political disinformation to do their worst. How stupid is that?

Yup we need another source of disinformation, we clearly don't have enough. We have people dying of COVID in South Dakota claiming they don't have the disease after being diagnosed, getting really sick and put on life support - IT IS A DEMOCRAT HOAX.

RepubliCONism is a death cult filled with zombies. We need more zombies!

So forgive me for pointing out the hypocritical partisan lense of the left.

Here at Fanlax we were told when we started a couple years ago there would be no moderators, no censorship. At all. People would be free to moderate on their own. Letting the people judge and ignore if needed. Yet Mattnum/Admin has since issued warnings, instituted a penalty box, deleted content, installed a language filter.

It's his place, his rules, but interesting indeed. Seems like everyone, even the best intentioned, has their own ideas of what should/should not be allowed on their favorite app/website. Yet here we are, playing by the rules. OR free to hate it and leave.

So what's the beef with Twitter/Parler/Facebook/TikToc again?

You are all missing the point. The site was founded and funded by Rebekah Mercer. They take your SS and License info to become a part of it. This is the same woman who also founded and funded Cambridge Analytica who lied and stole personal information from people through Facebook and then shut it down about a year before founding Parler. She’s cutting out the middleman and intelligent but insane and bitter because she has no social skills and so couldn’t forge traditional relationships so she created her own alt reality world which is institutionalized. All the Trump suckers are not outsiders, theyre insiders in a different system filled with chaos and lies. She’s as dangerous as China is, make no mistake.

This is what EVERY Social media platform does.
If it's free to download YOU are the product.
