If I remember correctly DMac, goalie Peter Roy from LI (most of the team was from LI) had a huge game vs Navy. Maybe some Red Dragon, circa '72, can confirm.

Correction...Peter Roy graduated in '71... Peter Graham had 20 saves vs Navy at Annapolis in Qtrs.

If anyone has info, how did Cortland end up getting a home game vs Virginia?

Just a guess, I know in D III post season play, the games were played at the higher seeded team's field for quite a number of years (was good being a Bart fan and living nearby in those years....might not have seen the best wet t-shirt contest ever when those RIT boys came to play if it hadn't been set up that way ). Don't know which of these two would have been the higher seed, but could that be the case?

That's logical DMac. According to Wikipedia, both Virginia and Cortland were at-large teams (along with Rutgers and W&L) with MD, Army, HOP, and Navy being seeded. I would find it hard to believe that Cortland was considered a favorite over Cavs.

Maybe so though, based on beating defending champion Cornell during season.

Could be they just wanted to get a bunch of people to Chugger Davis Field (although it wasn't named that til '73) to give them the opportunity to visit the trophy case so they could see the shrivled up old football with my old man's signature on it. He played for Chugger.

Yes and saw Linda Rondstat in Cortland in 71 or 72 in the gym at the top of campus after a football game. Just walked in very cool.

Cortland got the home game because they upset the higher seed in the previous game. That was the way the tournament was set up back then. Only Big School D1 and Little School DII. Cortland Chose the D1 route when you had a choice I believe.

DMac, I know you were a Hobart fan. Did you get to see some/any of the classic Bart vs Cortland games of the mid to late 70s? Did you ever see Harold "Beaver" Draffen play?
