Umm, not surprised. This has always been a risk. How serious we will see....Hopefully a good therapeutic will buy us more time. That has always been my position, Skippy. Doing nothing is not the answer. It would have an even worse economic outcome.

Just because there are genetic mutations does not mean that the vaccine will not work. The mRNA vaccines work by priming the human antibody resistance mechanism to recognize the part of the virus that attaches to cells (the points on the crown, so to speak). Unless the DNA changes from the mutations change those entry mechanisms to be unrecognizable (and possibly change the virus' ability to infect) the vaccines still work.

And so far there is no evidence that the genetic mutations have an affect. But the fact that the virus mutates is not surprising.
