To some extent. But what of the people going to prison for paying off SAT takers? They are rich, in some cases really rich. Anyone here being helped by their going to prison? If you say yes, you are being disengenuous.

I have a novel idea: fine them the amount they paid the takers (or more!), take those fines and allocate to inner-city standardized test taking services. And 200 hours each helping disadvantaged youth take standardized tests. Who exactly is helped by their going to prison? Maybe think about punishment for non-violent crime in a different light?

The time of this place comes with all the complaints about Dan and the LP mods who managed their boards. It’s a complete free for all basically and a very interesting social experiment IMO to compare the two.

JHU and Md I find probably the most into having real world thoughtful discussions and are finding more common ground around this dude. I get a little disappointed when 72 is quiet on mathematical/statistical/modeling portions of discussions that don’t work in his philosophical favor but I suppose being silent is better than artificially defending hack economists and bogus quantitative analysis.

This forum (politics) need a dossier/bio/positions page that is a sticky page (stays up top ) Users can post and edit their opinions and thoughts on topics. That way we know where people stand on issues, without having to guess , stigmatize or contextualize people's comments.

Close. I'm saying that Republicans both in Congress, as well as their citizen supporters aren't actually Conservatives.

Like 3rdpersonplural and many others here, I'm a 1970's Republican when it comes to domestic policies. Pay our bills. Take care of infrastructure. Keep it simple. Think: Nixon's actual domestic policies. EPA. Clean Water Act. Higher taxes. Trade with China instead of a Cold War.

We have one party in 2019. That's the party of the 1%.

I'd gripe about Dems, but they're not in power Federally. So why bother?
