Terps look fatigued,
Terps look like they’re not really in the game.
You will not see a worse performance in goal. Dropped the head of his stick on almost every shot. Came off his pipe. Gave up soft alley dodge goals. The one save he didn't need to make, he tipped a shot that was going a foot wide. A 24% save percentage isn't going to cut it.

Well, that sucked. Erksa’s gotta make that play at the end.

I’m really surprised Tills didn’t put Dolan in.

He’s a freshman, for crying out loud.

He steps in for one of the top Terp goalies ever.

You have to give credit to the Cadets here,
instead of looking for someone to blame.

Too many injuries this year,
too many graduated last year,
the past two classes still developing,
they still almost pulled it off.

Too much top talent on other teams.

At this point I would be fine with anyone but Notre Dame winning it all, just so we can stop hearing about the great shot they had to win the national title last year if they had gotten in the tournament.

He just didn’t have it tonight. That’s going to happen, especially to a freshman. It was obvious early enough that the coach has to make a move. Ruppel will probably spend the offseason blaming himself for the loss. Hopefully his teammates keep him thinking positive.

Unfortunately - completely agree…… his only saves were off his helmet…..

I thought we were going to have a goalie competition for next year (as rough as Mcnaney was against Loyola) it still clear…..

Agreed. Let’s not turn into hop forum. He rose to the occasion when LM went down. Not terps years and can’t say I expected them to go far in tourney after getting absolutely spanked by Michigan

That's not the standard at Maryland. It's just not. It'd be one thing if Army had been hitting insane shots or pinging corners. They weren't. Freshman or not, he has to make some of those saves. Goalie play was the difference in the game. Dent made normal and spectacular saves. He was the difference. He is why Army is advancing.

I understand.

Its also not a standard at Maryland to go blaming a freshman
especially a guy who pulled the Terps fannies out of the fire against the Cavs.

The Cadets evidently have been stacking some serious talent.

+1. Not to mention #1 struggled to cover a backup freshman.

It is true in playoff hockey and it is true in playoff lacrosse. The team with the hot[ter] goalie wins every time. That being said, unless you have played the position it is really not fair to put the entire blame on the keeper. How about the D who let the O penetrate? How about the missed slides, etc. How about the offensive possessions that did not result in goals?

Lacrosse is a team game. The better team won today.

Army turned the ball over 17 times. The Terps turned it over only 7 (fewest of the season). The Terps got up 47 shots, of which they put 31 on goal. That's one of their better shooting performances of the year. Wierman ran hot and cold (although it was, um, something that Coletti was able to play Wierman and not the ball on many face-offs...), but he still finished above 50%.

Teams got their licks in on Maryland this year, and they enjoyed it. As they should. The Terps offense next year is going to look more like 2022 than it did this year. They'll need at least 2 new shorties and a LSM. I'd expect their defense to be very good again.

Just like 2019 fueled the 2021 and 2022 runs, this year will fuel the next two years.

Freshman goalie hit the wall. It was like he wasn’t even there. The one save he made was useless, off goal and cost us 40 seconds and a goal in crunch time. Tillman drew up beautiful last minute offense. Should have won this game but it’s a ragtag group running on fumes that didn’t have high odds going forward.

Dude why would you taunt the Terps? I grew up walking distance to your school, grandfather a Dr from your school, I went to lax camp every summer at your school……
With the Terps out there is no team I’d pull for harder than you…..
What’s your problem….

I really don't know what folks expected this season. Lost a ton of experience from 2021 & 2022 teams. Terps will be back......1 step back to take 2 forward often happens.
