Not sure there is any logic present in that statement. The point is because we did not do enough to beat down the numbers to very low, we now have a completely widespread pandemic that is at this point out of control.

Abdication by Trump for leading an effective response remains a huge contribution to the problem, and the fact that the feds have not actually solved some of the PPE supply problem likely means this winter will be horrible for COVID cases/deaths.

And as far as anyone can tell, the coronavirus task force is not even meeting anymore...
They met Monday. Issued no statement or information. Chairman VP Pence left for vacation Tuesday.
Cooter, you didn't actually believe that statement did you?
I definitely believe it.
It is you who read the mainstream press who have been hoodwinked.

What's your logic?
That there shouldn't be a second wave at all if Trump is blameless? How does that work?

Trump claimed this would all be over by Easter, told us very definitely there's be no return in the fall, etc, etc...and told us not to wear masks unless we wanted to be made fun of...

So, how does him being so epically wrong make him blameless for the US's failure to crush down the degree of infection through distancing and mask wearing, failing to implement a national testing and tracing strategy?

I don't see the logic, which is why I assumed you were just joshing. Gotta be really cultish otherwise.
I view coronavirus as a strong contagion, and it wouldn't have made much difference.

My memory is that there was shortage of masks and a lot of concern about there being enough masks for medical people and 1st responders back in March.
I see, because he was epically wrong about the virus and failed to vociferously advocate for the public health measures that slow spread and failed to organize a national test and trace capability and...he's blameless for the USA being #10 worldwide in deaths per million population?...because the virus is contagious?

Yes, there was a lot of concern back in March, proving true in April and May...not enough PPE to go around; it was indeed a very serious problem that just a month better preparation and cloth mask wearing would have prevented (Trump diddled away February and early March and then pushed responsibility to the states)...we're in much better shape at the moment, but are we actually prepared for another doubling of daily infections? We've doubled infections in just the past two weeks...double again and then again and again?

Are we remotely prepared for the staffing needed to handle all the hospitalizations?

There have been Herculean efforts by many in our society...but we're going to give Trump a pass because the virus is contagious?

I watched part of the anti-America pro tRUMP rally in Washington DC and there were many reichsters who did not wear masks. There will soon be a spike in the number of covid cases because of these traitors.

Why does this discussion need to be political?
It should never have been.

Seems to me that the dinner (if true) is a foolish thing to do, just as are all the super spreader events still happening courtesy of the White House. Unless there's some darn amazing ventilation systems, and everyone's actually been tested, it's just asking for trouble. And even if so, bad optics given need to ask for sacrifices of many.

That needn't be political...all of these folks need to get off their keisters and get some relief out to the failing businesses, the unemployed, and to the states carrying the weight of the actual pandemic response. Epic failure of leadership, with the buck stopping at the top, but all the way down the line. The only thing you can say positive about the Pelosi side is that they already passed that aid back last May...

Time to step up McConnell and White House. And that's not political.

This whole back and forth about Trump's responsibility is crazy.

It does NOT matter how contagious the virus is. Nor how novel.

We were not prepared, in part because of Trump rolling back measures that were put in place.

As a nation we reacted slowly, because Trump refused to actually lead the public health efforts to educate the populace and change their behavior to mitigate the pandemic. In fact, he helped to lead the polarization of many of the _effective_ public health measures. He also lessened the public trust in experts, who even while making mistakes were able to correct their errors (unlike Trump).

He refused to truly fix the supply chain problems, and actually made them worse by both employing his incompetent son-in-law and his buddies to lead the effort. They continue to screw up - and we will soon have more supply chain issues. He also set up a politicized task force that valued appeasing Trump more than employing effective measures. He played states against each other, and clearly favored states where the governors were his supporters. He also tried to just foist off the efforts to the states.

And now, with the pandemic once again spiraling out of control - he sits in his bunker metaphorically and refuses to either engage or let the experts really do anything. He also is refusing to allow the incoming Biden administration be a part of the discussions, which will set back the country even further.

The reason it is so bad here, and why the US is the poster child for ineffective response is primarily Trump and continues to be. The only real question is how much of the blame goes to Trump... But it is a LARGE share.

More condescension? Neat.

And your "sources" are better? You've cited "some guy on the internet" quite a few times lately, pretending like that's solid info.

But reporters who do things like talk to the CDC are bad....that's what you're goin' on here? And then mocking those of us who get our information from them?

Neat. Good luck with that.

Just as I predicted.....A Trump loss would lead to an even poorer response. He is the type of guy that trashes his property when its in foreclosure just to screw the bank.

Because he posted about the nitwit new congresswoman?
That needn't be considered partisan...she's choosing to loudly encourage the opposite of public health guidance. Stupid. Damaging to others.
