AFAN, shocked that you are missing the point. Posters were wondering why it was a big deal, in the PC world, and others pointed out that FOX news was making it a big deal. ONLY them. Then the links to the usual suspects. That's all.
To me, isn't the first woman enough? Isn't it the liberal way to stay out of peoples bedrooms? I agree. Why do you (collective) you keep on dragging me back into it. As long as it's legal, I don't care what you do in your bedroom. Ahhh....but the parading and flag waving ensues.

Criticise this new Mayor and that's exactly what will happen to whoever tries.

The point of my post, which seems to be the one that has you so upset, was to show that Fox was also covering the story in a similar fashion as the so-called, MSM.

How soon we forget....
The old LP threads were filled with statements that criticism of Obama was race-based. Jimmy Carter came right out and declared that.
People will use her race and sexual orientation to criticize and dismiss her critics from the get-go.

Outside of DocB, I can't recall a time when one poster called another's criticism of Obama, racist. That's one heckuva thing to say to a fellow poster.
The criticism of Obama was indeed party based. That much we all know now. Nearly every domestic complaint--and many foreign policy complaints--- made about his policies has gone quiet when Trump has done the same thing or worse. Deficit. Spending. Hand outs. Socialism. Union bail outs. And on and on.
Mostly those who criticized Obama were shown to be completely full of crap in about six months of having a President with a little R by his name.
Posters called bullcookies on most criticisms of Obama. Surely you agree after 2 years of Trump that they were right to do so....

Right. Have a look at how the media is handling the corrupt POS Mayor of Baltimore and her grift. They're hammering her, and rightly so. FoxNation needs to stop with this "libs get a pass" nonsense.
Want to talk about some of the people and institutions that right wing Americans have, and still do, give a PC pass? It's not pretty.

I am sorry, but the first openly gay mayor of a major city was Annise Parker.
The media may not ALWAYS lie. But they are always lazy, and bringing an agenda to the table....

They always have. The difference is, some right wing Americans are outraged that it's not 100% their agenda anymore that's being crammed down everyone's throats.

That is what I thought. Most of the articles I saw mentioned Lightfoot as being the "first openly gay and black woman elected as
Mayor of Chicago"... some lazy journalists may have slipped but I had not read where she was the first "openly gay Mayor of a major city".... personally, I don't give a rat's *ss one way or the other. Humans are humans.

1789-1960. The 60's heralded the arrival of the modern liberal. Media was slowly pulled to the center.
Know what year the NY Times Op-Ed page arrived? 1970. Not a coincidence.

from what little I saw in my history books of newspapers in the 1800's it was mostly muckracking for whatever side was paying... I guess if you identify the conservatives with the money'd then I guess you are right, but I think the terms as we use them today did not really exist back then....
