So you are saying one is leaving and Tills will need to do a replacement search?
Currently there are three plus whatever Jared’s status is. I know the word at the beginning of the summer he was doing the football thing…again

So it is Jared leaving. Interesting replacement for him

Per Xanders twitter
Some coaching news before recruiting heats up at midnight: @TerpsMLax will hire longtime Brown and Tufts head coach Mike Daly as Director of Player Development, according to multiple sources. Daly replaces Jared Bernhardt, who stepped down to continue to pursue a football career.

Mike Daly Named Men’s Lacrosse’s Director Of Player Development

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Illustrious coach Mike Daly has been hired as the Director of Player Development for the Maryland men's lacrosse program, head coach John Tillman announced today.

A successful head coach at many levels with three NCAA National Championships to his name, Daly brings a wide range of experience to College Park.

"We are thrilled to have someone with Mike's championship experience join our program," Tillman said. "Mike has a history of developing well-rounded men and teams with strong cultures. He will be a great asset for our players to reach their full potential as people, students and players."

In this role, Daly will assist the Terrapins in several different areas, most significantly in preparing student-athletes for personal, academic and athletic development success.
Jared Bernhardt served in this role previously, but will not return to pursue his football career.

Daly spent the last eight seasons as the head coach at Brown, leading the Bears to the 2022 Ivy League regular season title as well as a berth in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Before his time at Brown, Daly posted a record of 244-83 in 18 seasons as head coach at Tufts, with nine NCAA Tournament appearances and seven NESCAC titles. His Tufts teams won national championships in 2010, 2014 and 2015. Daly was also named the USILA F. Morris Touchstone National Coach of the Year in both 2010 and 2014.

A 1995 Tufts graduate, Daly was a two-sport athlete for the Jumbos, and received a Masters in Education from Tufts in 1997.

Holy moly, that seems like a sweet gig. No skin in the game for on the field x's and O's and can be TIllman's right hand man to have another senior adult in the room. I suspect this will pay dividends in the end and have some looking over their shoulder.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

Another senior adult in the room? Terps have an incredible staff who are all adults.

Seems like he’s coming to coaching rehab for a year much like Nick Saban used to do with other coaches. Will be interesting if Terps recruit his son who I believe is a good player in the 26 class.

That was my point. Senior, as in someone that has experienced 'life' a bit more than than anyone else in the room. It was not a negative or slight.

Curious what Jared's planned route back is. He was in Giants mini-camp last spring but didn't look like he was at a camp this offseason. I think he's 26 now, so there's not much time left. He made a 53 man roster 2 years ago, so you'd think he could make a practice squad now, but it seems kind of late for that now. You would think that some teams would be pretty skeptical after his rookie year retirement.

Hope he makes it again. It sure is nice to be young and supremely athletic; dude is a legend.

He was not in Giants camp this year. Don't know about elsewhere.

Per IL

Our No. 15-ranked midfielder Drew Demarinis announced his commitment to @TerpsMLax.

Demarinis has “pretty much every release in his book: Righty, lefty, time-and-room or off the dodge, overhand or sidearm, up high or low. He can score with exceptional quickness on his release.”

Why does his Madlax profile describe him as a close defender?

sounds like he bowed out gracefully to allow room for Daley. It all happened so fast that it would seem that it was in the works before being announced

Maryland gets its guy at the face-off X with Luke Gouse from West Morris Central (N.J.) and @BBLElite committing to @TerpsMLax. Highly technical and clean with his offensive exits, the 6’2 Gouse is excellent with the ball, putting up 23G/8A while winning 71% as a sophomore.

Per Xanders tweet new commit
returns to Long Island for No. 39 junior and St. Anthony’s attackman Danny Rooney of @Shore2ShoreLax. A coach’s son who has an innate feel for the game, Rooney has an extremely well-rounded skill set and made a ton of impressive plays this summer.
