FMUBart wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 9:15 am Curious if Raymond is feeling the seat getting warm? Doubt that he would be let go after year 1 in the A10; but, I hope the administration will give him some metric to shoot for(besides finishing 5th in a 6 team league). Then again, not sure about the AD; Hanna was a cluster, lately things are pretty quiet in Geneva...
As long as kids are graduating and there aren’t any news stories coming from athletics DeWall and Raymond have lifetime employment. No matter how much they highjack the admin at each success for more money and other wise don’t deliver on what they’re selling (discipline, defense, footwork, conditioning-it’s not commensurate with what either coach sells externally). And the new-ish AD is focused on athletic enrollment.
Sort of assumed that was the deal. Not necessarily disappointed with the coaching staff, but could use a talent upgrade on D, for sure!

How about Simon Conor’s name being thrown into the coaching carousel, 16 years of running his vaunted offense at Nova, maybe it is time for Coach Conor to take his Delbarton pipeline to another sideline as possibly a Head Coach (Queens college)

His offensive track record is phenomenal, really one of the best in the sport and if you could find a way to transfer the Delbarton pipeline it'd be great, but his name never, ever seems to come up. Probably comfortable at Nova I presume, he is an alum. Maybe if one of the local jobs opened up he'd be in the mix but otherwise you never hear his name.

But they seem to have trouble scoring against really good coaches like Tierney Tillman & Warne

yeah, I was unimpressed by the adjustments, or I should say lack thereof, in the Denver game. when it wasn't working it was basically just 1-on-1 dodge and bad angle shot over and over and over. but on the balance their offense over the last 10 years is basically always in the Top 15 or so.

Can you see the average kid at Delbarton choosing Queens college? Respectfully.

I just meant that most college lacrosse assistants should be aspiring to someday be a head coach of their own program and that a change of scenery is a good thing

Hmm. Wondering if this is for volunteer position. Thought starting for next season the volunteers could become a paid position if the school could afford to pay them.

He’s a Villanova guy through and through and money has never been an issue for him if you know what I mean. Never say never but I don’t think he’ll ever leave Villanova.

Sounds like Rick Lewis Jr. is departing OSU, so this would be a 2nd assistant / OC position.

hofstra stands out from that list. 2011.
Hofstra made the quarterfinals in 1993, 1999, 2001 and 2006.Sad times on the Plains of Hempstead.

An uncle and nephew stepping down within weeks is a weird coincidence.Certainly a bittersweet moment.Recruiting L.I. kids to ptay locally is a sisyphean task.Good luck to the person that takes the Hofstra job.

Where are you getting info on Tierney at Hofstra? No news on their website.

As a NJ HS lacrosse coach that has coached against Delby and has coached delby kids in club ball - honest answer is “not a snowballs chance in hell”.

Asgot wrote: Fri Apr 28, 2023 10:49 am I will say one that many here will probably balk at Brecht at Rutgers. His best teams we loaded with transfers and his recruiting has been subpar compared to his conference rivals. He has underperformed in terms of staff and retention. Rutgers has invested a lot of money into the facilities there and will be looking to build a lacrosse-only facility he will have to start sowing an ability to maintain a high level in both playing, coaching, and recruiting. The cupboard may not be bear at Rutgers but there are certainly slim pickings right now
I know he was extended in 2019 through this current season. Did he get another extension after the Final Four last year?

Rutgers has several built-in recruiting disadvantages compared with top 10 teams. There's a reason they can't compete for these in-state Lawrenceville and Delbarton kids. But I have a hard time believing they wouldn't keep him just a year removed from the Final Four, even if it was greatly aided by the transfer portal that everyone saw then and sees even clearer now is an unsustainable way to build up a program. That seems like about as good as anyone is going to be able to do there.
What built in disadvantages are those? Outside of history and academics, Hopkins would seem to be a much harder sell. Terrible area, no college atmosphere, no sports.

As a former Hopkins All American said to me, why would a kid go to Hopkins now?

Ascot fellow clearly has no idea what is going on. The staff has never been as high as they are now on the classes they have coming in. Portal is recruiting. That's why every team that can do it, is doing it. He just saw it faster than other programs and used that to his advantage.

The Rutgers AD is close with Brecht. One year removed from the first FF ever. He's in less than zero danger. Silly talk.

Hoping Tierney turns things around if he stays at Hofstra. Wonder why things aren't clicking right now?
