It is championship Friday. 3 state champ games are set for tonight. Who ya got?

2A Hereford vs Kent Island
3A Catonsville vs Severna Park

MIAA. ST Marys vs McD

The 3A title is not on the line tonight. I know you think Catonsville and Severna Park are the best but have you ever seen Liganore play? The Championship game is played next week and it will not be a blow out IMO.

I was thinking all three games could be very close. I seem to be wrong on a lot of guesses, but going with

St. Mary's defense/goalie play has proven stronger.
KI's OOC games coupled with their structure, will see them through.
Catonsville has not had enough tough competition

Linganore lost to Urbana. That’s all I need to see. Believe me. The winner of tonight’s game will win next week by 10.

I don't think Catonsville is that good to declare them the champs if they win today. I have not seen SP play so I don't have a strong opinion on them. Remember these are high school kids and they can easily have an off day or be overwhelmed by the moment.

SP has won 5 state championships in a row. Only one public school loss in 5 years (Broadneck). They are discipline and play fast.

No similar opponents. I can only look at similar opponents of opponents. Urbana. Beat Linganore. Urbana also lost to south river (SP beat them by 10). Urbana only beat Annapolis by 6 (Sp beat Annapolis by 20) Urbana beat Middletown bad, twice. Lingamore needed OT
Linganore best win was Towson. Ranked 33 in the state
Linganore lost to Urbana. Ranked 34. And Linganore is ranked 32 in the state. Seems about right based on those two games.
SP is beating teams ranked around 30 (south river) by 11
SP played St Marys (ranked 2 in the state) to OT. They split with Broadneck (ranked 16).
Catonsville has beat Hereford twice and MSJ (both ranked top 25)

Linganore has not been tested. They won’t be ready for the speed and skill of SP. I don’t think Linganore even gets past hebron. But if they do, SP will win by double digits. There is nothing in any of these games that suggest Linganore is even in the same level as SP.

Liganore is a solid team. They will put up a good fight if they make the final.

Catonsville or SP will win the championship by double digits. They might set the record for most points in a game.

19 goals is the record....does any one care if the score goes above the magic "21"?

That record is for the “official” final is next week. And the 3A record is 18. Yes. I see that record getting broken next week 2A record is 20. I don’t see that happening.

Southern #40 vs #36 Fallston

Both games will be close. Favorites are Huntingtown and Fallston but the teams are so similar it's silly to call them favorites. Should be good, close games.

I don’t think so.
Looking at coming opponents
South River. Hebron 2 goal win. SP 11 goal win
Broadneck. Hebron lost by 6. SP split
Marriotts. Hebron average win by 3. SP won by 10
Glenelg. Hebron won by 6. SP by 15

It won’t be close. SP is stacked. Hebron seems to spend the game trying to get the ball to one kid, so he can try to dodge. That won’t work.

I think KI rolls past Huntington like they did to Hereford.
I don’t know much about fallston, but southern got blown out by Broadneck and SP. 1A is like JV. I don’t follow it much.
