Thank goodness for Avenatti & Smollet.

Now MSNBC & CNN have programming & a return on investment for all their washed up prosecutors on retainer.

Are you referring to POTUS elect Avenatti? He may wind up in the slammer even before Trump does. ;) Who woulda thunk it?

Interesting how so many on the forum are concerned over the media's coverage of the Smollett situation but conveniently overlook the matter of right wing Republicans Jacob Wohl and his false report of leftist death threats. Virtually the same crime as Smollett but no charge, no bad press, nobody calling for a long jail sentence.

Gee, what could possibly be the reason? :o

Speaking for myself - the reason is that I never heard about Wohl.

In the case of Smollett, the media made it day-to-day coverage

FOX NEWS UPDATE- BRAZILE HAS ARRIVED: I bet Chris Wallace,Shep Smith,Brett Baier and one or 2 other FOXIES will welcome Ms.Brazile.Her presence should result in some spirited yet civil "interactions".

"JUDGE" Pirro, Lovely Laura,Tucker "Don't Call Me Tuck" Carlson,"Hair On Fire" Hannity may be planning an appropriate welcome.Setting a few watermelons on fire in her reserved parking space would be a good start. Hanging photos of Ailes, Reilly and Hyde-Smith in her office will let Ms.Brazile know she is being watched. Those nooses that decorate the rear wall will bring back memories of her youth in Dixie.

Welcome aboard Donna!

I hope this gal wins her case, this is BS.
1. We're so hung up on nudity in this country it's ridiculous.
2. People are real stupid about what they put out on social media.
3. A private photo for your BF/GF who later uses it to cause you
some sort of shame should not be grounds for firing. (You can bet
Mr. Ex BF put this out there with ill intent....get over it Mr. Ex.)

SO why does it matter that the new Mayor of Chicago is black and openly gay.

Thought that stuff wasn't supposed to matter.

Thats what the media pounds into our heads telling us all how to think and behave.

Then starts every article about her with her color and sexual preference.

It's republican church lady political correctness - you know, the morally superior party. Sex scares these people. AOC should put one out, the Faux News crowd would lose their minds.

When the ex bartender first hit the scene I thought it wouldn't take long for a topless picture or two to hit the media. Young girls can be mighty stupid about sending pictures of themselves out into the digital world. So far I've been disappointed, but yes the Rs and Faux News would go nuts and completely lose their minds with that one.

If that were to happen and the R's lost their minds it would be pure hypocrisy. They most certainly did not lose their minds over the nude pics of the first lady....

but with that said, they would lose their minds for nothing other than political purposes.

Agree, they'd have a field day with it, tear her apart, destroy her credibility, despite the fact that it's pretty common place and not such a big deal (would be plenty of others hoping theirs don't somehow come back to haunt them).
How much would one of those pictures of her be worth....how many millions, that is?

Lori Lightfoot makes history, wins Chicago mayoral race

Apr. 03, 2019 - 1:41 - 56-year-old Lori Lightfoot, a former federal prosecutor who has never held public office, defeats longtime city council member Toni Preckwinkle to become the first black woman and the first openly gay person to lead Chicago.

My guess is that if it is out there and comes out, it will only help her. I know it is apples and oranges, but her dancing video just added to her star power. Unless there's a pic of her doing something , er , abnormal :? . I think it would just adds to her mystique.

wouldn't it be nice if just once, people replied. "I'm sorry.....you are right" on these threads? Especially after proving them wrong?

Just once.

Also, all these news stories say "openly gay" as if to imply that a former mayor was a closet homosexual. Not open.

Openly gay means you just that....otherwise who would know one way or the other......sort of like openly racist would leave no doubt.....(not meant for you btw just an analogy)

Sigh. I'm sure it'd be nice. But neither of you are right.

Let's take a look at the story. Now why would this make national news?

The story isn't that she's black or gay and was voted as Mayor of Chicago.

The story is that she's the first. First is the story here. First is what made the national headline.

For the next black gay mayor of Chicago? No one will care. It won't make national news.

The news covers "the first" anything. Always have. Don't act like it's a liberal conspiracy, especially when Fox runs the same doggone headline. Same for the BBC.

Who was the first man to set foot on the moon? Great. Now who was second? No one cares. This is not complicated.
