A HUGE loss for Maryland and our nation. RIP.

..

Kamala Harris:

We lost a giant today. Congressman Elijah Cummings was a fearless leader, a protector of democracy, and a fighter for the people of Maryland. Our world is dimmer without him in it.

A very fitting tribute.

Minnesota loses a true legend:

"Friend to all hockey people": Former Gophers hockey coach Doug Woog dead at 75
"The Wooger" coached the team to six Frozen Fours and won 389 games over 14 seasons.

"Friend to all" is a very fitting title. I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with him a long time ago. Saw him in South St Paul and Minneapolis a couple of times and he always treated everyone very well. Very accessible and friendly.

I attended a game at Woog Arena yesterday and saw a few pics of him posted up on the wall. A true legend, indeed.

Hayden Fry was one of my favorite coaches of all time, in any sport. The West Texan cut quite a figure as a man and coach. He took over the once proud Hawkeyes which hadn’t had a winning season since legendary Forest Evashevski stepped down after the 8-1 season in 1960. Fry took over from former Hawkeye Bob Commings, who was hired from Massillon HS where he won a state title, but never had a winning season in Iowa City.

Fry gave Iowa a new start and new look of a champion with the black & gold similar to the Steelers and the now well known Tigerhawk logo. He had some coaches under that became successful head coaches. Hiring Barry Alvarez out of a high school, Bill Snyder, Bob Stoops, Mike Stoops, Bret Bielema and of course Kirk Ferentz.

Yeah, terrible terrible story, in the Boston papers. I hope he can someday find even a little peace.

What a great man with the sticks. Always under rated for his talent as a drummer, he gets lost in the conversation when it comes to the greatest drummers of all times... not in my book.
I use to be a people person until people ruined that for me.
