Pressler shouldn’t need the money,
so, growing the game in Texas sounds like a tremendous opportunity.
I like to think we beat him so bad in the NEC playoffs he thought he was still at OWU taking beatings from us and in his old age threw up his hands and decided “f**k it I’ll go to Texas”. Certainly have forgotten some of his revenge tour at Duke on us late 90s/early 2000s.
A complete ass whipping by Hobart. Should’ve saved a few for Saturday
Two different teams those two days.

But there’s a long history when Hobart won all those (13 straight) D3 titles, Pressler could never beat them as head coach at Ohio Wesleyan in the 1980s before he left for Duke. Then he took every chance at duke and the early Bryant years when Hobart had a really rough stretch for a plethora of reasons from end of 2000s to the early Raymond years when he’d leave started in shooting and taking shots at guys late in games and generally petty revenge behavior. Once we cleaned things up 5-7yrs ago it became a bit of a back and forth. 2016 was sweet for us, they hammered us in the reg season then we beat them for the NEC title, in 2017 we hammered them in the reg season then they stole the NEC title in a zone packed slopfest NEC final.

Long history. I respect him to some degree-not like I respect Cuse and Cornell even though I want to take a dump in their soup every season. But I enjoy when we can take it to him a lot.

Choked in ‘93 as well. I believe they had the lead entering the 4th quarter. Then Maddux went off. Game over.

You can make a comfy, far less stressful, 6 figure salary at some Texas schools.
i have heard that. and... is interesting.

bone up on defensive back training and responsibilities and can maybe live like a relative king. but it can be hot down there.

My cousin turned down a DB coaching position with the Ravens to stay with High School kids.

could be a very smart man if he values anything but the team's performance. those guys work 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., 6 days a week. and that's in the offseason.

Ross looks to be in the mix at Providence as well. Would think news breaks there soon.
Bryant should call Pressler’s life long friend JB Clarke and get him (and his four rings) on a plane asap.
I'm not saying he isn't a capable coach, but I feel like winning (at the Limestone level) at the D2 level and D1 level are very different.
He just won another championship up during his first year at Tampa.

By your logic none of the following coaches would have been hired because they came from D2/D3 backgrounds: John Tillman at Maryland, Bill Tierney at Denver, Andy Shay at Yale, Madalon at Princeton, Murphy at Penn, Milliman at Hopkins, Nick Myers at Ohio State….

Yes the levels are different. But JB, who has served as the President of the IMLCA, would probably be just fine.

Definitely agree with you here! In addition, championship teams find ways to get it done under adversity.

No I didn’t but OWU had their share player issues that year as well. Biggest probably being not having AA attackman and Defenseman who were suspended because of a fight in the semi’s against WAC.

Pretty sure it was a OWU kid Maddux dragged out of a car and put the beat down on. OH school I do recall.

Either way the 12 straight and 13/15 titles is something that will never be matched in the modern era. I follow D3 football pretty closely and know how hard it is to crack that level. Eventually a school that has like 10-12k undergrads in Wisconsin broke through and unseated the little 2,000 student school in NE OH that carries roughly 200 man rosters and that took a while.

Congrats to you Texas fan. I may want him to suffer when we played against his teams but he is a hell of a coach. And probably screwed as a Hobart fan because I doubt he will advise kids to go there. “It’s too cold in Geneva son, you should go to Marquette or UVM instead..”
