Word is Virginia went really cold and didn't score a goal against Bucknell in the 1st quarter of their scrimmage. They played a little better in the 2nd. Moore, Saustad and Shellenberger didn't play. They might really struggle against Loyola in the opener if this keeps up.
I heard they outscored them 11-2 in the 2nd quarter. I guess you could say they played "a little better" in the 2nd

Q has them preseason number 1, hardly a surprise even though some fans think he is overly critical of the program.

Little better? UVA scored 11 goals in 2q with some new faces at midfield . Hounds transition d is a bit suspect.

Was the Spencer and Stover show in last year opener, without em Loyola O is the more likely offense to struggle unless Savio wins most faceoffs but that matchup with LaSalla is more likely to be a push.

This is at Klockner, Loyola has only won once at Klockner (2016). You have all the pieces to the puzzle coming back while we do not. Some on our thread predict a squeak out win, or a close loss. That's a no from me. I have a gut feeling that UVA will blowtorch my team

And the Hounds don't run as fast on grass, particularly if it's a wet field. I predict UVA. Gonna be a good game no matter what.

It’s early. if Saustad still out, Virginia will likely start 2 1st years at close. Don’t know Moore’s injury either but he is out. Toomey is a fine coach. Anything can happen.

this match-up has been a great addition to the lacrosse calendar. It has yet to disappoint.

I expect another close and fun to watch game!

We're going to water down the field just like we do for VPI in football and basketball. If you don't believe we didn't do it to beat them this yuear, just cruise TechSideline and you'll be convinced. ;)

Thanks. Matt Moore really benefitted by being coached in high school by Terp and College Lacrosse Hall of Famer, Frank Urso. Urso was unstoppable.

I think the Terps deserve a "player to be named later" for that.

Tiffany said that Cormier would be on the field a lot. Watching UVa in fall ball, Cormier seemed to be one of UVa's top 5 offensive players.

I could see Cormier being a breakout star this year. I really liked his game and he causes major matchup issues when being covered by a short stick .

Former UVa Head Lacrosse Coach and Athletic Director Gene Corrigan passed away this week. He played for Duke and was also the AD at Washington & Lee and ND and Commissioner of the ACC. He's the father of UVa Alum and Head Coach at ND Kevin Corrigan. Here is the link to the story on VirginiaSports.com.

We randomly had the tickets right behind Coach Urso for the Duke-UVA semifinal in Philly (he said he was there to cheer on Matt Moore). Got a picture with my son (we're huge Terps fans as I'm an alum). Super nice guy. Urso was one of the best players in NCAA history, and seems to be even greater as a person.

There is discussion about redshirting this year’s number 1 recruit, Connor Shellenberger, due to the logjam of upperclassmen players ready to contribute on offense. Lars stated that he’s ready to play at this level but it might depend on injuries.

really? If i were a coach and i saw that a freshman was D1 ready to play, i'd stick him in even with the upperclassmen getting minutes.

When you have a line of kraus, moore, aitken, laviano and a bunch of other top tier recruits in the wings who can play, that strikes fear into most coaches. Add Shellenberger into that mix (heck rotate him as a middie or an attackman w/e) with the hype he came in with and safe to assume that hes doing great in practice, then play.

UVA is a candy store oozing with talent because of the way you recruit, how you recruit, and how you developed players. Dear god i am DREADING, the game for Loyola against you guys on February 8th.

sounds like moving him around to midfield isn't working.

lose only kraus at attack next year, and payton ready... can he redshirt twice?
