A numbskull comment is said once, an impulsive reply, a gaf. The POTUS has said this more than once and he stands by his, so to speak, accomplishment. His narcissism, his lack of empathy is truly disgusting.

Really. Not been real impressed with Debbie in the "stones" department. To be fair, it took Fauci longer than it should have to find his.

IMO, the "spin" is by those who want to believe he meant that to apply only to those under 18 being somehow "immune"(also untrue) and wasn't in context to the comment "that's it", meaning just elderly people and those with underlying conditions...that's it...just 200k...virtually nobody.

He's talking about the pandemic... using a phrase like "virtually nobody" for any aspect is disgusting...so, 'spin' away

My kid's school is doing 1,000 tests per day. Which is enough to test every kid once a week. And they will pay for/do more if they need to. But 1,000 tests a day (which most state Us couldn't afford) ain't gonna cut it if you have 20-30k undergrads.

No one who lives around here now will voluntarily go into the City of Boulder. Because that's where the main CU Boulder campus is. While CO and Denver metro have had pretty low Covid numbers over the summer, seems like only a matter of days/weeks until Boulder flames up with Covid. Especially since CU gets big cohorts of out of state kids from TX and CA and since 75% of the kids live in town off campus.
Well, it didn't take long for CU/Boulder to blow up. "For cause" testing just doesn't cut it. A week ago they quarantined the entire enrollment -- 29k undergrads -- for two weeks. Today they went full online for the next two weeks. At least they aren't sending the kids home -- yet. But after the two weeks runs, who knows.

In contrast, my kid's school is doing fine. They test every student weekly. Since they are driving with the headlights on, the contact tracers jump on the few positives they find immediately.
evidently the cu plan was to screen test on campus students weekly, but not off campus. so probably about 1/4 of the school.
https://www.dailycamera.com/cu-boulder- ... nts-weekly
not surprisingly, they now have over 100 cases per day on their dashboard. and get to do the 'ole lockdown/quarantine bit to add to all their other regulations.

would make more sense to not do any regular testing at all and save the money. unless the thesis was covid doesn't like to live off campus?
While some colleges are hurting, primary schools are doing ok:

Younger kids take orders pretty well. Not so much for high schoolers and college kids. You also have the case that when these kids started back to school cases and deaths were on a downturn or had leveled off. Now that things are starting to go the other way, well see how well they do in comparison to their communities.

You are assuming there is no cross reactivity in Memory T cells from previous corona virus infections. A assumption that is currently being challenged with data that suggests otherwise.
But that is not going to lower "herd immunity" to well under 20%...

Nowhere close.
You you may be right. But it may lower it well below the 60-80% threshold everyone throw's around as a 100% done deal. You do not know, neither do I for that matter.

The same complaints as in the US. Inadequate timely testing & tracing. Not everyone wearing masks, social distancing & avoiding gatherings.
