The counting of Electors would still have taken place on Jan 6th, & the mob would still have rioted to try to stop it, because Trump told them it would.
The Senators were trying to focus attention on the irregularities in this election, so they'ii be addressed before the next election.
The riot disrupted their harmless effort which needed to be no more controversial than previous objections.
You are correct that the Inciter-In-Chief is Trump, but no, every single one of the a-holes who claim that the election was fraudulent, stolen, won in a landslide... or just whine about "irregularities" and "election integrity" in order to reverse an election, the outcome of which they didn't like, are ALL complicit in the incitement. Their responsibility is measured in the size of their microphone and the oaths they've taken. The Senators have big microphones and took an oath, and they know better...and then there's Hannity...

And everyone else spouting this destructive nonsense.

EDIT: Including you as I see in the post immediately below.
"not dispositive"? "hurried court cases"? what a joke. 60 strikes and you still don't know you struck out.
Show me the words of Hawley, Langford, even Cruz, or any of the other Senators who said the election was "fradulent, stolen, or won in a landslide." You're putting Trump's words in their mouths. You are being dishonest. What they did is no different than Boxer objecting based on long voting lines in Ohio.
Please show me Barbara Boxer whipping up the crowd after the President has promised big rallies -- "it's gonna be wild" -- at or just before the electoral count confirmation:

Based on that, maybe only 1 of them entered the Capitol.

Hopefully with a large stick in his asz while people throw rotten eggs (turds will do too) in his face.
This man is garbage (as if we didn't know this) and needs to be thrown out NOW!!!

This is a good story on how our representatives should act. I will not take the obvious cheap shot at "patriots" that want to "protect the flag"...

Not just how our representatives should act, it’s how we all should act, including some who post here. His words from the end of the article.

“It’s so hard because we don’t look at each other and see each other as Americans first, whether it’s race or ethnicity or religion or political party that’s getting in the way of us being able to have that shared identity that forged our country and is necessary for us to be able to continue.”

More from those who know Hawley best. This guy donated $6 sticks to Hawley's campaigns:

JEFFERSON CITY — One of U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley’s first major backers expressed buyer’s remorse late Thursday, issuing a statement blasting Missouri’s junior senator for his role in objecting to President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory.

Joplin businessman David Humphreys, whose family has contributed millions of dollars to Hawley’s election efforts since 2016, said the Senate should censure Hawley “for provoking yesterday’s riots in our nation’s capital,” the Missouri Independent reported Thursday night.

Humphreys went on to call Hawley a “political opportunist” who used “irresponsible, inflammatory and dangerous” tactics to incite riots in the Capitol, the Independent reported.

Humphreys’ statement to the Independent said:

“I need to say the same about Missouri’s U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, who has shown his true colors as an anti-democracy populist by supporting Trump’s false claim of a ‘stolen election,’" Humphreys said. “Hawley’s irresponsible, inflammatory, and dangerous tactics have incited violence and further discord across America. And he has now revealed himself as a political opportunist willing to subvert the Constitution and the ideals of the nation he swore to uphold.

“Hawley should be censured by his Senate colleagues for his actions which have undermined a peaceful transition of power and for provoking yesterday’s riots in our nation’s capital,” he said. “We owe it to our children and grandchildren to protect our country and its Constitutional underpinnings.”

At least 2 regional papers have called for his removal from congress.
