A petition in Ukraine calling for same-sex marriage to be legalised has gained enough signatures for the president to consider the proposal.
The petition has more than 28,000 signatures, meaning President Volodymyr Zelensky now has 10 days to respond.
Homosexuality is not illegal in Ukraine, but same-sex marriages and civil partnerships are not recognised.
This has caused particular problems for LGBT people signing up for the military following Russia's invasion.
For example, under Ukrainian law if someone in a same-sex relationship dies, their partner cannot collect their body or bury them.
The online petition says: "At this time, every day can be the last."
One LGBT organisation has described the petition as an "important moment" for members of the community.
"It is important that LGBTQ people have the right to see their partner and take their body from the morgue, and seek compensation if needed," Oksana Solonska, media communications manager at Kyiv Pride, told the BBC.
"All married couples have these rights. We really hope that same-sex marriage will be legalised, so people will be able to take care of each other," she added.
Any petitions in Ukraine that gather more than 25,000 signatures automatically trigger the president's consideration. However this does not guarantee any changes to the current law, and it is not clear whether Mr Zelensky will move to legalise same-sex marriage.
While some efforts have been made to protect LGBT people in Ukraine - such as an anti-discrimination law that was introduced in 2015 - its LGBT community has suffered homophobia, intolerance and violence.
In 2013, the country's first official Pride march was held in Kyiv despite protests - it was meant to happen the previous year, but was cancelled after a gathering of skinheads threatened participants.
And in 2018, activists were attacked at a Kyiv transgender rally by far-right militants.

The point of the article is that in a county in which the Governor of Florida recently won overwhelmingly and which has been in the news because of the school's announcing of an investigation into a teacher...initiated by a school board member who objected to a Disney film shown the children as a violation of recent laws sponsored by and signed by said Governor...who is now one of three major candidates for the Presidency of the USA...there is a backlash from students, teachers and other parents to this right wing hysteria over "woke"...the article suggests that such backlash is happening elsewhere as well, but particularly notable in such a 'red' county in the state "where woke goes to die"...my embellishment there...
Now, if that has something to do with whatever you are referring to above, please make the connection for us and as I'm not able to decipher your intended message and I suspect others aren't able to do so as well.

But ok, so this school district has a 501c3 that allows business and individuals to donate to classroom teaching projects, college scholarships, or other things that donors presumably want to see supported above and beyond local taxes. And the State puts in a big chunk of that support. I'd think that's pretty typical, but maybe you know better?
Are you suggesting that this has anything to do with why there's a big pushback on the school administration and particular board members getting all up in arms because a teacher showed a Disney film that happens to have a presumably gay character (character has a crush on another character) as part of a story unrelated to sexuality?

Seems to me that there's a tremendous effort by right wing politicians to "sow division" around a whole set of things they call "woke". Just listen to the two most prominent GOP candidates this week, and last, and surely let next week as well. And they're passing all sorts of laws to enforce their particular "morality" goals...but it turns out that a whole lot of citizens don't care for those laws and how they're impacting people, especially kids, on the ground...sounds like democracy at work at a very local level...

DeSantis wrote a law that was designed to let him tell his supporters that he was chasing gays out of Florida schools. That's it. That was the INTENT behind the law.....to let DeSantis claim victory over the gays.
