THis study implies what the poster on Twitter is saying...
https://www.infectiousdiseaseadvisor.co ... ischarged/

Correlation between successful isolation of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in cell culture and cycle threshold (Ct) value of quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) targeting E gene suggests that patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with Ct above 33 to 34 are not contagious and can be discharged from hospital care or strict confinement, according to a brief report published in the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases

This stuff is certainly interesting. Maybe they (labs and CDC, etc) are using this high Ct as a higher standard, which provides them wiggle room to argue they wanted a much higher safety factor? Unfortunately the article cited, implies differently, which appears to skew the numbers we are seeing in favor of the virus still being highly active..and yet, states are relaxing more and more.

There is certainly a disconnect between what we hear and read, vs. what we are seeing.
Very simple, quick explanation of Cycle threshold, if anyone is interested: https://www.wvdl.wisc.edu/wp-content/up ... alues1.pdf
Help us out here. if Ct value is inverse to a positive, then why is anything greater than 33-34 being used to indicate a positive/contagious person by the CDC/Labs?
Based on this data, researchers deduced that patients with Ct values > 34 do not excrete infectious viral particles and thus may be discharged.
Good question. I don't have a good answer. After talking with someone who does RT-qPCR alot, we both just kind of shrugged our shoulders. Perhaps with such high cycle counts they can be certain a false is a false? Err on the side of false positives rather than false negatives? The guidelines show the tests have Level of detection down to 10 virus particle/microliter titers but that is with cycles in the 34 - 36 range depending on machine and extraction kit used. Perhaps this has something to do with it? Sorry I do not have a better answer.

On another interesting nerd note. Here is a preprint of a paper that looks at Ab binding and how to design antibody "cocktails" to take into account "escape" mutations to occur that will effect the binding of a single antibody. https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101 ... 0.292078v1
Here it is again...Minnesota's state lab admits less than half its PCR "positives" in the past 3 months were under 30 Ct.

Seems the Ct is all over the place, which really just throws all the resultant testing data we see into one big bucket of uncertainty.

Uncertainty? CDC guidelines have the LoD at 10/microliter in the machines they tested and that was 34 -36 cycles. That is very low count and a rather high cycle count. It would remain to be seen if that low a viral count would be infectious. One thing that the article mentions is not all machines are the same. I know we can run samples on two different machines and have the Ct of one be different than the other. It really is not as black and white as one would want.

Actually, it is this:
Petey's post is emblematic of the prevailing ethos of the Republican Party: an elitist view of others, even though its their party with absolutely zero common sense. I’d add they are entirely unpatriotic but that’s too obvious anymore to warrant discussion.

Let us remind everyone that it is the Republican party that is in power.
That it is the Republican party which diminished Obamacare.
That it is the Republican party which stifled the CDC's ability to quarantine virus carriers.
That it is the Republican party which is responsible for the deaths of 195,000+ Americans.

Numbers of Americans dying from tRUMP virus is now roughly 1,000 per day.
By contrast, Canada recently reported ZERO deaths per day (first time since March).
Biggest difference being that the USA is under tRUMP/Republican rule without health care rule while Canada has universal health care and is run by a liberal government.

Bottom line is that the Republican party ruins, runs the USA with absolutely no sense at all. It is totally unpatriotic, totally anti American, and is not the party of moral principle but the party of death and treason.

But let's play along, and avoid the awful nature of two people being shot with zero provocation (like what the other Democratic hero, Michael Reinoehl, did).

What do you say then to the BLM supporters and agitators who tried to storm the hospital?

To the protesters blocking the entrance & exit of the HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM yelling "We hope they die" referring to 2 LA Sheriff's ambushed today in Compton: DO NOT BLOCK EMERGENCY ENTRIES & EXITS TO THE HOSPITAL. People's lives are at stake when ambulances can't get through.

There are very few Americans when you meet them that you can not find common ground with, even bozo Democrats. The fact that you can't see that is why you are a Democrat.

DEPLORABLE, politics before health and science

Political appointees at the Department of Health and Human Services have sought to change, delay and prevent the release of reports about the coronavirus by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention because they were viewed as undermining President Trump’s message that the pandemic is under control.

Michael Caputo, the top HHS spokesman, said in an interview Saturday that he and one of his advisers have been seeking greater scrutiny of the CDC’s weekly scientific dispatches, known as the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, for the past 3½ months. The adviser, Paul Alexander, has sent repeated emails to the CDC seeking changes and demanding that the reports be halted until he could make edits.

The emails, first reported late Friday by Politico, describe the CDC documents, widely known as the MMWR, as being “hit pieces on the administration.” Caputo confirmed the authenticity of the emails.
