I have no idea if he donates, but he's not in the Hopkins Hundred club, his name isn't on any buildings, and last I checked he isn't a legendary alum with grandkids on the team, so if he does write checks and were to withdraw his support for whatever reason, I suspect they'd still be able to afford uniforms. The much larger hurdle IMO is that he has formed relationships off the field with important people and their families. So if you make any sort of drastic move to "relocate" him then there will likely be people upset about that. And if the directive ever does come I don't think it can come from PM or Baker. It's got to be an alum whom he respects (idolizes is probably a better word). "We appreciate your support, we love your passion...please don't abuse opposing teams or the refs." For all we know, someone has said something of that effect to him already.
For what it's worth, when I go to games I usually sit on the edge of sections 5 and 6, and if there's a decent crowd, you can't really hear him. For a fall or winter scrimmage it is, however, staggeringly embarrassing. You could probably hear him on the other side of University Parkway.
Anyway — hard to believe we're only 4 days away from the season. All it's taken is 76 pages of 06 complaining about ESPNU establishing shots of campus to get us here. Will have something meaningful to discuss this weekend.

Per IL Towson 12th in turnovers last year-a good chance to work on transition offense next week.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Watch ESPN has started to post some college games for this Saturday but Jays - PIos not among them yet - mildly surprising Yes?
As far as the important people - the Harrisons of course some immediately to mind. I would find it discomforting to think that two of the classiest people I have met associated with Hopkins lacrosse would really defend that behavior. I think you would get some glances at the ground and some mumbles but ultimately they would agree it's a poor reflection on the program. So unless he funds something that comes across as important - I see no reason why Jen or Pete can't contact him and say " Cheer positively for the team all you want but the other stuff - shut your pie hole or you will be escorted from the stadium."
All good thoughts '16 I need to let this go but his behavior is so anti to what I think of when I think of Hopkins lacrosse that it affects me. FInal thoughts - you can't relocate him - 2/3rds or more of the stadium is GA. In additon that does not address his behavior at Klockner/NMCS/Johnny Unitas etc etc. And unfortunately with all the reasons that contribute to a lack of in person attendance - it's at most 1 or 2 games a year where you MIGHT be able to claim there are other distractions. I often used to go across the field because it got sun and I could hear him like he was next to me.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 6:58 am I have no idea if he donates, but he's not in the Hopkins Hundred club, his name isn't on any buildings, and last I checked he isn't a legendary alum with grandkids on the team, so if he does write checks and were to withdraw his support for whatever reason, I suspect they'd still be able to afford uniforms. Not very surprising, they usually add those games to the app pretty slowly. I'm 95% sure the Denver game will stream on ESPN+.51percentcorn wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 10:45 am Watch ESPN has started to post some college games for this Saturday but Jays - PIos not among them yet - mildly surprising Yes?
PM did the annual radio hit on Glenn Clark Radio this morning — very little to report but he did confirm that Kilrain, Chauvette, and Ayers are the freshmen currently in line for minutes. Says there are a few others who could eventually be in the mix but right now it's those three.
One other interesting thing, he said the Big Ten as a league decided not to mandate instant replay this year. Sounds like it's up to each individual school if they want to do it. He said he's not sure how many of our opponents will do it...was pretty skeptical of the entire thing to be honest. Doesn't seem like it's going to have a major impact this year (in the regular season, at least).
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
I certainly hope it’s on plus. Ordinarily I’d be in the stands, but I can’t leave my dog alone for a couple of hours. He doesn’t even like a quick dash into Eddie’s. Odds favor the home team, but Denver returns most of last year’s key players.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Game is on ESPN+ https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-rele ... aa-season/
Games vs. Denver, Towson, Loyola, Virginia, Syracuse, Navy, Penn State, Maryland are all either on ESPN+ or ESPNU.
That leaves Georgetown, UNC, Rutgers, OSU as the unknowns. Rutgers and OSU should be on Big Ten Network. UNC will likely be on "ACC Network Extra." GTown will be on whatever garbage platform the Big East uses.

Hopkins number one fan was posting about his extensive team gear gift pack from the team. Don’t worry I’ll visit some of you who will now be checked involuntarily into the asylum.

LOL - For the record - I never thought any change would occur - I will admit I am curious as to how it happened and why it continues to this day after a change in team staff - you wouldn't think a raving lunatic would be PM's cup of tea given his apparent more reserved manner.
Oh well
Go Jays
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
No you would think it would be at odds with PMs style. In his post he thanks PM specifically and tags him.51percentcorn wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 8:08 pmLOL - For the record - I never thought any change would occur - I will admit I am curious as to how it happened and why it continues to this day after a change in team staff - you wouldn't think a raving lunatic would be PM's cup of tea given his apparent more reserved manner.

What I do know is this there are certainly alumni that want nothing to do with him. Most of those are from the decades 80 and 90. Some very influential alumni are very much in his corner from the 2000s including Kyle Harrison and he remains very popular with the younger alumni and their families.

So football season is basically over and I'm back. I've tried to keep up with the numerous posts over the last 4-5 months but I'll be honest regurgitating much of the same comments over and over again can be a little wearisome. Anyway, it is great to have the lax seasons start (even if the game is being played on the 3rd day of February).
I don't think you can take make too much out of the scores from last year and apply it to this year. All teams change between seasons and the Pios will certainly change with Tierney no longer crying and complaining on the sideline.

You can always just bring the dog can't you? I thought we still allowed dogs at Homewood.

To Win!!!
As the college lacrosse season officially begins with the Blue Jays’ opener against Denver, Blue Jay nation is hopeful for a return of the national championship to Homewood!
And now … To Win!
To win, to win,
You'd like like Hell to win.
But you'll have to wait,
'Til the moon turns green,
And the Brass Band plays "God Shave the Dean!"
Hi-lo, Hi-lee,
It's plain as A-B-C,
If anyone's going to win today,
It's we, we, we!

He is a good fit for DEI, and getting rid of him would not be well-received by its fans.51percentcorn wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 10:45 am Watch ESPN has started to post some college games for this Saturday but Jays - PIos not among them yet - mildly surprising Yes?

denver preview. Goals off resets, their faceoff guy, pipes they hit shooting last year, and a winning senior class.
In other words, they want to start fast, shoot better and the boys better double the coffee saturday morning.

Jays were voted preseason #1 in the Big Ten by the coaches: https://bigten.org/news/2024/1/30/mens- ... onors.aspx
You can certainly make a case for Penn State or Maryland (and even Michigan, I suppose), but it's just nice to be back in this conversation. Hopefully will stay there for awhile.
Martin, Smith, Melendez named "players to watch" which doesn't really mean anything because I'm pretty sure each coach submits three of their own guys.
Denver game notes/06's Super Bowl should be out any moment. Season really is upon us. We made it, folks.

This has - at least for me - nothing to do with the fact CW is African American. I can promise you I would say the same thing about anybody that behaves that way and in fact have said similar things when the guy patrolled the sidelines in the women's cheerleader outfit.
The goal of DEI - IMO - should be that everybody is treated the same - and anybody that acts like that A$$hat does should be warned and then removed for that game as once stated on printed tickets and affirmed through the announced sportsmanship creed.
