Hop 17-9 scrimmage final.
Raposo 2, Reen 2, Hicks goals.
Geb, transfer tender from Amherst, has two years of eligibility.
Kaufman was outstanding on the wings.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Kaufman's HS tape tells a similar story about his potential as a wing player. Enormous wingspan.Hoponboard wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 3:16 pm Hop 17-9 scrimmage final.

IL had an 18-9 final and said Epstein looked "his best" https://twitter.com/mattkinnear/status/ ... 9639381003
It's Gib, not Geb btw

Grimes with a laser. Hop 6-4 at the half.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Appreciate the updates. Who's been getting run at the 3rd attack spot when DeSo and Epstein are on the field?

Hop 9-6 end of 3rd. Epstein, Evans and Grimes scored.

Hop 11-9 final. Bauer and Teachout goals.
Crisp passing, excellent shot making. This is the best I can remember Hopkins offense playing in Fall Ball.
Prouty looked good at the X in the 4th.
Ryan Evans was a revelation.

Quite the statement given how many of these scrimmages you've been to over the years.Hoponboard wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 4:56 pm Crisp passing, excellent shot making. This is the best I can remember Hopkins offense playing in Fall Ball.
Thanks for the updates as always. Sounds like the Jays are pretty deep even with 9 guys not playing. I'm worried about Narewski's injury so it's nice to hear Callahan and Prouty had moments.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
I just heard the same thing from a long time fan. They said they haven’t seen a Hopkins team pass like this in a long long time. PM apparently is a stickler for stick work and it sounds like it is paying off.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 5:06 pmQuite the statement given how many of these scrimmages you've been to over the years.Hoponboard wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 4:56 pm Crisp passing, excellent shot making. Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
^That's the good news.
The bad news is Narewski is in crutches with a big knee brace: A tell-tale sign of a recent knee surgery. One can only hope it's not the dreaded ACL.
If Evans can start playing like his grandpa then that'd make up for it.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Given that Il's write-up on Oct 4th would lead you to believe Narewski was upright and on the field at that time - the injury is very recent and leg brace/crutches does not sound good. Feel for the young man - he would have been on the short list to return for the COVID eligibility year - maybe we will see him again.
Did Fernandez play?
Did Fernandez play?
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Heard from someone who was at the scrimmage who said Narewski should be ok for the spring. But he definitely does not look like someone who's going to suit up any time soon.51percentcorn wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 7:10 pm Given that Il's write-up on Oct 4th would lead you to believe Narewski was upright and on the field at that time - the injury is very recent and leg brace/crutches does not sound good. Fernandez did not play. I think he's fine, they're just being cautious with him.
Maher is in a boot.
If Grimes is staying at midfield and Maher is banged up then that opens an opportunity for someone like Chauvette or Charboneau to take the lefty attack spot—assuming they do want a lefty there though it looked like today they went with the "veteran" Krampf there, at least in the first scrimmage.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Well, if that's true doesn't sound like a ligament - meniscus maybe? Hope so. As Epstein showed in '20 - even a Grade 1/2 sprain can have much longer term effects and given a face-off man has to explode through his legs you kind of need those stabilizers
I thought Grimes staying at mid-field was potentially noteworthy - as with anything in the fall - could be something could be nothing - doesn't sound like anybody got carted off the field today - hopefully for any team - so that's the biggest judgement of success.
I was thinking I might see a comment on Phillips

Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Phillips played a lot. He moves well, passes well and scored a goal. Definitely see him in the 2nd midfield rotation.
Fernandez played in the intrasquad scrimmage and looked good. Yes, he was held out today out of an abundance of caution.
Spoke with Narewski before the scrimmage. Said he was playing with the injury through last season. Didn’t think he would make it through the ‘22 season, so he had the patella surgically repaired.
Expects to be ready for the opener in February.

Thanks for the commentary Hoponboard and others. Really appreciate the insight. While this board can be at frustrating at times, days like today are why we keep coming back. Thanks again, you're doing the Lord's work (as least as far as us Hop fans are concerned).Hoponboard wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 8:06 pm Phillips played a lot. Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Very good. I'd obviously rather have a 100% Narewski but I guess the silver lining is that getting these other guys high-value reps now could pay dividends in the spring.Hoponboard wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 8:06 pm Phillips played a lot. Can you speak to what made you say Evans was a "revelation"? And how any of the attackmen not named DeSo or Epstein looked? And who was the best goalie on the day?
