Again, this is guesswork at best until it is actually corroborated with real empirical data. Yes it may not have been the best idea to hold this large of a gathering, but there is no way in hell just based off cell phone mobility that economists can make the assumption that 250 THOUSAND cases are DEFINITELY linked to this event. This is an extremely bold claim, under any circumstances. Rely on health officials, NOT Economists.

ALSO, this NPR article is dated 9/3/20. So in 5 days, it went from 260 Cases to 260,000? I am pretty sure this article is another example Ala the Myocarditis Penn State Article in which the initial claim is very clearly false...

Just remember the dismissive reaction to this study when Trump makes statements that are reliant upon his latest Covid 19 task force leader, a neuroradiologist and tv talking head with no experience in infectious diseases or public health.

Your point is not invalid, but my point is lets not jump to conclusions that is not based on Empirical, Peer-Reviewed Data.

it will be interesting to see what the reason ultimately is for countries at various places now coming in with very low case fatality rates. both the countries that have increasing cases (which may not be out of the woods, but low death rates have persisted) but also sweden. who knows how many infections they really have as they barely test anybody.

that's a hard pass on china, south korea and thailand. & from what i've seen of vietnam, that'd be a no also. japan i've read some on and don't recall recoiling at anything, but up in the air.

UK and Canadian schools have just recently re-opened. Pretty much full time and in person. Very much TBD how that will go for them.

But recognize that the UK and Canada are on a different planet Covid-wise than where the USA is. Which is especially striking given how horrendous the UK was at first. 7 day average daily deaths:

USA 864
UK 7
Canada 4

and lets not concern ourselves with how they got on a different planet than us, if you really think that. What's different? Masks?

Political leaders who listen to the pandemic experts, and lead their population by example.

Pretty much what we do NOT have now in the US.
