190,000 deaths (and yes that number is big because every life matters.)

Get your your calculator. What's the percentage come down to?
Guess it's not a hoax.

It's not a hoax. But as you put it: the deaths have "maxed out at a fraction of our reality."
Now we know what the real threat is. It's real. Just like having a car accident, being in an airplane crash, or getting paralyzed/killed by a shot in lacrosse.
It's a possibility in life. There's risk in life for everything. It's why you wear a seatbelt commuting, why the airlines give the safety speech before each flight, and why there's an ambulance parked at every h/s lax game.
The threat is known, so prepare, wear your masks, and let's move on.

Sure you have. Your team did it for 8 full years of Obama.

Or is your thinking that everyone here has forgotten that?

It's my favorite part of the forum...it has a memory, and it remembers when posters were "fake horrified" by Obama's spending  . You find out just how malleable American partisan "values" are.....and that policies are not evaluated by merit....but simply by who proposed the policies.

I find it HILARIOUS watching Republicans clutching pearls, and feigning shock when Trump is hammered no matter what he does. The lack of awareness that they did just that for 8 straight years provides endless amusement.

Think about how hilarious Republican posters complaints were....about how bad the economy was in Obama's last year.

come on, Kram, you're not really on that bandwagon are you???

Yes, any normal-thinking, non-sociopathic person, (R, D, I) should be really upset that this has gone so horribly wrong and any such person should be really PO'd by those who push false narratives about the pandemic, creating immense friction to doing better.

But none of those people are wishing for more deaths. None.
I'm not on any bandwagon. I'm incredibly upset the way the pandemic was handled.

But it's your contention that the posters here are just posting numbers to "inform us" of the pandemic going "incredibly wrong."

For what end? No political reasons at all?

C'Mon, MD. Don't peddle that. I was born at night, but it wasn't last night.
I am posting the numbers for informational purposes.

"Not on any bandwagon" indeed. Sheesh. You know people do read your posts.

Hopefully we can keep driving down that mortality rate until a vax is out.

That's another benefit of flattening the curve. It gives researchers more time to figure out how the virus works, and what treatments are and are not effective. It saves more lives in the end.
Yes....flattening the curve buys time to save more lives. We are going to put 190,000 deaths in the rear view mirror today.

Wow...you'd think Nancy and RBG would wear masks.
It’s a hoax

Apparently, to Democrats anyway. I was told masks helped?

I thought the economy under Obama was fine, helped in no small part by the Technology Revolution.

In the USA, cancer and heart disease each kill 600k per year.

Accidents 170k
Stroke 145k
Alzheimers 120k
Diabetes 83k
Flu/pneumonia 56k
Suicide 47k

So a brand new and additional condition killing maybe 250-300k in 2020 is not nothing. And remember, even Trump admits the number would have been 2 million if we'd just let it rip. Would 2 million hit your radar, Kram?

True we don't lock people down to avoid cancer or heart disease. But that's because cancer and heart disease don't spread through social contact. If social distancing would avoid a few million cancer deaths, 100% certain that we would be locking down to stop cancer.
Boycott stupid. Country over party.

Thanks for this. The RAS has always been on my "list" of things that are out of whack, especially with how the virus binds to the cell. What I never thought of was Bradykinin. I am certainly glad there are smarter people than me looking a this thing.

Here is a link to a paper, small study, using a kinin receptor antagonist in the treatment of patients: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamane ... le/2769237
yes very small, but v good results for what they published. any idea whether they had a number of other endpoints in the hay that they published anywhere?

oak ridge's computer & co. is an all-star if they got it right, wouldn't be surprised if studies like this helped with their process.
I have not see any others as of yet. Although it makes sense with the anti inflammatory stuff out there. I have not looked real deep into the clinical aspect to be honest as I have been trying to wrap my mind around the entire RAS/Bradykinin pathway details as the RAS and associated hemodynamic control has always been interesting to me.
