i think the thought of balanced budgets in this day and age are a funny concept. shoot me.

some math, alabama was brought up.

38,000 students. send them home at thanksgiving, say it's 13 weeks.
pcr tests look like they could be done for $15 per maybe but let's go crazy and say there's issues and it's $50.

38,000 × 13 x 50 = $25 mil. per semester for a once in a lifetime event.

their budget is over a billion. endowment, too. that's 5%. tell parents in june it's gonna be an extra $500 per semester to be on campus and you can steal the other money from services not provided on student fees and it's free.

or make up a similar scenario and get funds to pay....

or don't really have a plan, test a few people, try to scare peeps into compliance, chase your tail or close down when it goes awry bc you don't have a plan.

higher education has spent the last 3 decades increasing costs at more than twice the rate of inflation. they're on the teet and life's been easy. now with some strategy needed and some work, they've bailed. they're going to pay for that call, imo.

From ‘brain fog’ to heart damage, COVID-19’s lingering problems alarm scientists

Michael Marks, an infectious disease specialist at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine who’s helping lead the U.K. survivor study, says he’s not too surprised at emerging aftereffects. “What we’re experiencing is an epidemic of severe illness,” he says. “So therefore, there is an epidemic” of chronic illness that follows it.

Are you cheering? Seems so.

In actual news:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website disclosed the shockingly small number of people who died from only the coronavirus, with no other cause of death mentioned. Hold on to your hat because here it is: out of the 161,392 deaths in the CDC data, just six percent, about 9,700 deaths, were attributed to the coronavirus alone. According to the CDC, the other 94 percent had an average of 2.6 additional conditions or causes of deaths, such as heart disease, diabetes, and sepsis.

Showing his true effing moron colors.

Yeah, who gives a flying if you're over 60, or have high cholesterol, or high blood pressure, or any of 100 other medical conditions. If you're not in perfect health and under 60 you deserve to die.

He better hope that, if it comes time, the cardiologist who determines he needs a stent to prevent a heart attack doesn't have the same lack of empathy as this troll. He may be told he should have taken better care of himself. Sorry fella, you have a preexisting condition.

I thought the ‘Party of Science’ wanted facts?

The issue isn’t whether a person ‘deserves death’, but whether shutting down a whole economy is justified knowing actual statistics. This CDC report suggests we have been far too aggressive, that the risks of Covid are less than the flu provided we manage the most sensitive to it.

But those are facts which maybe you don’t like?

How many Americans have pre-existing conditions, Pete? That means, of course, that they can't have one single medical ailment, and have to be as fit as an athlete.

Have you bothered to look? FoxNation hasn't. They don't want you to know, so they don't tell you.

The numbers are there. And don't include obesity, Pete. Guess what percentage of adults are obese in America?

Just correcting your false statements.

You posted suggesting that the virus was done in FL. The data/virus say the opposite. Literally the next day.

Since the virus is obviously not done, your statements are actually dangerous. That's why I correct them.

Again and again and again.

Petey, you’ve been prematurely declaring Mission Accomplished since March. We are all pretty tired of that shtick.

So is your Democrat wife.

In the end, you will only have yourself to blame for appearing the way you do. The trend is obvious to anyone with a pulse, which I am starting to suspect you may not have.

Fourteen. 14.

Florida health officials reported 2,583 new Covid-19 cases and 14 additional resident deaths on Sunday, according to the Florida Department of Health (DOH). This is the lowest daily death figure reported by the state since June 22 when 12 deaths were reported, CNN's tally showed.

Still trying to cherry pick data when it suits you.

https://www.covidexitstrategy.org/

Measures for Florida (as of Friday night):

Uncontrolled spread (worst category)
14 day spread down 31% (good sign)
Testing 17% of who they should (given the positivity rate) 45th in the country with this stat!
80% ICU occupancy (second worse classification of elevated)
311 new cases per million per day (just ahead of GA for the worst in the country)
Unlikely to be able to do contact tracing with 17.7% positivity
Does get into the lowest grouping for disease spread (not getting worse but better)
Worst grouping for can the health system handle the disease

So some positive signs - but coming from nearly last place. A long way to go.

Stevenson University welcomed freshmen to campus last week. Each student was greeted with a Covid swab and told to stay in their rooms until results were returned. 3 days later all freshmen were sent home for 2 weeks as the freshman had a 13% positivity rate.

That’s crazy. My daughter went to school last Sunday. Took test at 9:00 and received result later in the day. Keeping our fingers crossed. I believe they are testing weekly. I feel for these kids.

My guess is they send them home for 2 weeks, retest and see where the numbers are.

They let them keep their belongings on campus, so there is a good possibility.

Thanks. It’s just unfortunate. It’s a virus against which we have no immunity. We have learned some things but at the end of the day, it’s a bad virus even if it doesn’t always kill you. I am hoping kids have some semblance of an on campus college experience.
