I'd agree that hypocrisy is rampant...may even have been guilty myself at some point. Almost surely, easy to fall into.

But playing golf is hypocritical?
Only if I'd been saying that people should do zero activities outside and safely distanced, right?

Heck, I'd just encouraged him to take a bike ride, get some fresh air, as he's said he likes that activity, as do I.

I've been advocating, consistently, that we should do those things that we can, safely, to get exercise and to socialize, and that we should focus on appreciating those things, rather than fixating on what we can't do safely and thus have to forego.

That's going to mean different things for different people's circumstances, but it's nevertheless the best we can do. Focus on positive stuff we can do, safely.

For my 90 yr old mother in law with some dementia that may mean just walking through the retirement center, maybe a short swim, a visit outdoors from her daughter, distanced, on a warmer day, a call every day from each of her children...for my 84 yr old mom, it does mean playing golf still, taking walks, enjoying her family...but not complaining about not being able to play bridge inside, which we found she and her buddies were still doing a month ago when we arrived...and without masks. "They're all careful"...there's now a resident from her community in the ICU with Covid...

But do what you can, safely, and appreciate it.
