Great interview with Atlas Coach Pressler about why they chose 6'9" Gavin Adler #1.

GA77 + JT51 = #YellCornell.

I know this post is a few days old, but I couldn't agree more. I think it's especially relevant in light of the NCAA tourney selection, with no fewer than 4 of 16 teams coached by current or former Cornell head coaches, and a fifth team - the defending national champs - coached by a Cornell alum who played for Richie Moran (though I think we all agree that it was Tillman's formative years as assistant coach at Ithaca College that truly shaped his lacrosse trajectory).

That's almost a third of the teams in the tourney this year helmed by former (and/or current) Cornell coaches and players. That certainly speaks to a tremendous culture and legacy...

Let's not forget Kyle Georgalas at Army!

Looking ahead to next year, who'll take Adler's place? Staub looks as if he can handle the job.The depth on the current is good. How about one of the incoming recruits?

Dooley has the makings of a star based on what he showed in the ILT semi-final game. I think we haven't seen the last of him this season. No offense to Singer, who is a solid player, but that game would have unfolded differently if Dooley were on Lyons from the start.

Only two close D are listed as incoming, and the current roster lists 3 first-year, 1 sophomore, & 2 juniors at defense (including Follows & Singer). There are 2 first-years, 1 sophomore, and 2 juniors at LSM, who might convert to close D.

A few of these standout as possible replacements, although it's unlikely anyone could fill GA77's shoes. We also lose Ierlan, which is another concern.

OTOH, attack should be loaded, with a number of outstanding attackers coming in.

Knust (goalie) has been excellent in the games he's played.

Next year I would expect Staub to move back to close with Dooley the next man up. Knust and incoming Tully should battle to start in goal. Nod to Knust, but there have been a couple impact freshmen goalies this year.

Its the 8 vs. 9 game so it's obviously considered the closest matchup, and is Michigan winning really an upset. They just won the 2nd best conference championship beating the defending NC.

I realize Cornell is home and seeded higher but Michigan beating Cornell and being considered an upset is merely a product of what's on paper.

This game is an absolute toss-up, and whichever team moves on will certainly be dangerous moving forward in the tournament.

It's warm now in Ithaca, but Sunday forecast is for a cool (high of 60), partly cloudy, dry day.

I don’t see it. Tournament experience is the underrated intangible factor.

Massey still predicts Cornell by two. I don't know who's correct, but I can't see this Cornell senior class ending their last home stand without a fight, nor can I see this team being intimidated by a recent resume. Should be a good game.

The article was about the most likely upset, not a prediction on who would win.

Maybe Walker Wallace started a trend for Cornell and having a ginormous, 6'5"-plus LSM on the roster is going to be more than one-cohort fluke. Jeremy Launt, a 2024 recruit from British Columbia (Burnaby Mountain Secondary/Pro Caliber Lacrosse) seems to have committed to Cornell. If true, nice to have Western Canada back in the fold.

Very interesting. Historically, this is box lacrosse country. A lot of lacrosse talent out there. He also plays for the Burnaby Lakers indoor lacrosse team.
