That image shows how media/journalism is driving reaction...long before facts emerge. Not shooting the messenger here, just how we've become a shoot first, ask questions later era.

It's deeper than that.

What if a longer video never existed showing more of what happened that day in DC?

The part that annoys me with all this is that people don't think things like the Covington video and its reaction existed before.

They think---and have been told by FoxNews-----that this is new. That bias never existed in Cronkite's day.

FoxNation is right, to an extent. The narrative for 200+ years in our country was the right wing, white view of the world. Women didn't work those jobs. Neither did minorities. And there was no such thing as a modern liberal back then, obviously.

So who's story and view was told all that time? The view of the white men who owned the presses.

So I just shake my head and laugh at the "outrage" of white America when other views and stories are told. And the (shocker) fact these views are biased, and frequently wrong.

No! That's un-possible!

Was that popular paper Frederick Douglass published the North Star an exception to the rule? Mr Douglass was a very powerful man in his era and changed the hearts and minds of many white folks of his day.

this is what happens when you let philosophers into the liquor history cabinet ;)

You would be flat flat wrong in regards to 'bias'. (unless, of course, your agreement with me that it's the stories they DON'T cover are what is bias & important )

Show me the socialist media outlets. The commie ones. that exist today. Mother Jones may think they are the daily worker, but they are really just People/TMZ

Did they REALLY close bars in the USA where men discussed things? you betcha.....

"We condemn the actions of the Covington Catholic High School students towards Nathan Phillips specifically, and Native Americans in general, Jan. 18, after the March for Life, in Washington, D.C. We extend our deepest apologies to Mr. Phillips. This behavior is opposed to the Church’s teachings on the dignity and respect of the human person. The matter is being investigated and we will take appropriate action, up to and including expulsion. We know this incident also has tainted the entire witness of the March for Life and express our most sincere apologies to all those who attended the March and all those who support the pro-life movement.

We were talking specifically about NEWS organizations. No need to look at the bright shiny conservative somewhere else

My point in posting that is to simply point out: people make assumptions and mistakes all the time. It's not some liberal conspiracy.

What if that second video never surfaced? Now what? Guess what? That kinda stuff happens all the time. Truth is a slippery bugger in the best of circumstances.

As for pointing out news organizations: you don't really want me to point out the times FoxNation (Rush, FoxNews, Beck, et. al.) intentionally distorted the news, do you? We'd crash the server, and you know it.

And of course CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC and CBS would NEVER be guilty of doing the same thing.
https://www.businessinsider.com/what-yo ... gy-2014-10 Interesting tidbit. depending on where you stand politically is where you get your news from. It doesn't specify if the folks believe what they read or they are just being brainwashed. 8-)

Media Matters has turned its aspersion game on Tucker Carlson thinking some decades old remarks on a comedy radio show will destroy him and get him off the air.

However last night Carlson eviscerated media matters president Angelo Carusone with some researched bigotry from Carusones own past.

While never taking any shots at those on the left....right.
I didn't look past any hypocrisy, Carlson is a narrow minded jerk who thinks he's smarter than everyone else in the room and treats people like they're all ignorant idiots. Here's an example of the scowling smug one in action spewing nothing but pure unadulterated BS.

Media does indeed matter. More than ever. How else would we the people have discovered KEVIN DOWNING'S lies? Or Trump's?Or Huckabuck's? Without THE MEDIA, we might never have known the CEO of Apple changed his old surname for an eponymous one?

Today, the ever-vigilant media showed Roger Stone and his entourage, walking OUT of the courthouse. That video calmed a terrified public. As he was seen walking INTO the courthouse, a flurry of panicked calls were made to 911. Those callers, as well as many folks that watched Stone strolling down the street, received calming assurances that a grotesque, horrifying creature was NOT loose, roaming the streets.

THE MEDIA likely averted a "War of the Worlds" type panic.

Lagniappe, parents felt better that Halloween had not been moved to March 14th.
