You know there is still a Kavanagh playing college lacrosse right?
Probably need to put more thought into this, but Kirst is the 1st name the pops into my head for best returning player. Sam King is another, I would have over Kavanaugh. Pilate and Smith come to mind on defense. I am sure I am missing a few names. Too lazy to go through who is back
I was responding to the "more versatile, more alpha" aspect, as well as Pound for Pound. Kirst is a phenomenal shooter and is probably be the Tewaaraton favorite. But I don't think Chris' Alpha can be questioned and his relentlessness on the ride (not as good as Pat though) adds versatility.

And pound for pound, Chris is 5'10 180 vs CJ at 6'2 210 and Wayer at 6'3 215

But it is all subjective and adding in Kirst or anyone else ro the convo helps to rebut Hooz's assertion so I'm good with it.
I might be an "unrepentant homer" but you are freaking delusional and frankly dishonest if you think Ben Wayer isn't generally more athletic and trucking the F*ck out of Chris and getting that ground ball in a head-to-head..that's a clown take. Dude is 5'10 180 wet, Ben Wayer is 6'4 and 215 and fast as f*ck..he plays end-to-end..chris plays attack. give me a break. Not knocking Chris' alpha bonafides, but seriously? We aren't talking about who is going to win the Tewey, or plays the more glamorous position, or has the better "name" legacy..we're talking about pound-for-pound lacrosse players, difference makers all over the field and Ben Wayer is the best in the country, bar none. The type of guy you see in high school...people start asking, who the F* is that guy??? If you played you know what I'm talking about.

Kirst is a freaking stud and he impact EVERY game, but I really think Wayer does so much people don't see game in, game out. I hope he gets the cred he deserves this season.

Why are you always so adversarial and boastful with everyone here and what's your point? No idea who you are, and doubt it matters to you, but you don't come off as very experienced in the world.

I agree in the sense where Wayer is the best player in the country. Putting up 98 GB/26 CT/13 Points as an LSM for an ACC team is insane. He also did this after a year hiatus from lacrosse.

He’s obviously not going to win the tewaarton because it’s basically an Attackman award at this point, but if I had to choose the best and most versatile(Offense, Defense, middle third) lacrosse player in college lacrosse, it’s hard not to choose Wayer. I don’t know how the kid wasn’t at least a 2nd team AA last year..

Give this a read if you haven’t: https://www.usalacrosse.com/magazine/co ... -back-game

i've not done much in speaking on wayer in the last year, didn't seem necessary as his play speaks for itself.
imo, he was the best in the country last year, and that's at a primo position as it's a lot deeper than goalie and fogo even as it's a "singular" position. tons of teams have very good lsms. i am biased.

this weekend, he gobbled ground balls and got ctos plural. wing, d and transition, and scored.
he also got spun around a couple times, once he got a cto, once it landed hard and the ball didn't come out on forced rusty gates. he was a step slow a couple times. he took 2 penalties, including one inexplicably with 0.1 sec in the quarter on the sideline.

no different than an attack not having his a+ game, but still showing.

i expect him to have a great year. the best player(s) of 2025 are yet to be determined, they don't get settled in the autumn prior on a lax board. open discussion (looking at you, hooz) is a better use of the board.
