Wondered this myself. It was 45 and clear in South Bend at gametime yesterday. Easily could have been played outdoors to accommodate more fans. Then again, they don't have any fans.
:D
I'm thinking, what is basically an indoor practice facility, is a real advantage for ND. I couldn't even watch. The game should have been played outdoors.

10 Goals between two sophomores. Very impressive.

Riccardelli showed great hands and quick release. More than filled spot opened by Taylor unfortunate renjury . Older Kavanaugh is a superb passer, threw into tight spots to several floaters near cage. ND defense was looser than years past and Entenmann was off. Opening game but still raised some questions despite the large margin of victory.

I agree there's something difficult about watching the ND indoor games. It's probably a combination of the poor lighting and poor camera angles, but oh well, at least it's broadcast if you want to watch it.

Last season, ND blew out their first opponent, Detroit Mercy, and P.Kavanagh looked like the best player on the planet. Then reality struck the next week when they played a quality opponent. So I've learned not to draw conclusions from performances against weak competition. The blowout this year was not as big as last year but Marquette is better than Detroit Mercy. The defense was surprisingly mediocre. Offense was quick and zippy with interior weapons and an outside shooter. But again, it wasn't against top competition.

My hands have mostly dethawed being at this game.

First, I’m surprised Notre Dame doesn’t have more of a Fanlax following. The stands in DC were easily 50/50, but the ND fans are far more vocal.

I was effusive about Virginia after seeing them in person last week. Go ahead and slay me, but I think Notre Dame is better. Extremely athletic all over the field.

That goalie Entemmann (sp?) is REALLY good. He was playing catch with Georgetown shooters, and those kids aren’t exactly junior varsity shooters. He’s a tall kid too.

I won’t write a summary but honestly, that’s as athletic a team you’ll see. UVA will have their hands full.

Yes, you should be slayed for being so impressed with every winning team you see. :o I, like a lot of others I assume, was withholding judgment on how good ND is until they played a quality opponent. Now they have (I think?). I was only following the score and was not expecting such domination. At least that's what it looked like from the scoring.

The result couldn't have come as much of a surprise to anyone who follows these two teams, but the score shows reflects the disarray into which a team once rated in the top four has fallen.

I don’t know if I agree with that. Georgetown looks good, very athletic. I didn’t see a ton of errors on their part. But man, Notre Dame looked like a beast. Sometimes it’s simply a good team that causes the result.

I'm wary of ND. This is not last year's ACC.

This year they will have actually beaten a team that gets an invite, unlike last year.

With today's win, I'm sure the Irish are firmly on the tourney bubble.

True enough. The Terps could have an epic collapse! The selection committee will likely replace them with Dartmouth.
