Oakton won 22-10.

Also, I would say Yorktown (-5) over W&L tonight with o/u 21.

I think W & L pulls off Upset tonight no points needed. And I’ll take battlefield -8 over patriot

I do not know if W&L can take Yorktow, but I think it will be a very close game. W&L is very good.

A little birdie tells me Yorktown rolled W&L out of the gate 10-1 at half before Coach Tran started liberal subbing.and ended 15-3 with a running clock for most of second half.

While Yorktown vs. W&L was a dud last night, we got a game of the week tonight out in Haymarket in the rematch between the Freedom South Riding Eagles, fresh off a 7-6 win Monday over John Champe, who came to Battlefield High School seeking revenge for the season opening 17-5 smackdown the Bobcats handed out. The way things started, it looked like more of the same, as the Bobcats jumped out to 5-0 lead. But as Lee Corso says "Not so fast my friend..." as the Eagles got on a roll and scored 6 out of the next 7, to cut it to 7-6 with under 30 seconds left in the half until Battlefield raced to goal in the final seconds to put one in on the doorstep at the horn (foul anyone?) for the 8-6 lead at intermission. The Bobcats again turned to their freshman goalie early in the 2nd half to try to change the mojo, but the Eagles were rolling and had the deficit to 10-9 with just over 17 minutes left. With the young Bobcat goalie attempting to make a clear, the Freedom defender got the turnover and had a run at an open net, until the goalie put the helmet and pads to good use and made an open field tackle that could have her back on that same field on Fridays this fall. The obligatory yellow card led to another goalie switch and an open net free position to tie it at 10. The 'Cats appeared to refocus and killed off the rest of penalty, adding a shorthanded goal and another to open a 12-10 lead. But the YC bug bit the Bobcats again, and the Eagles wouldn't go away, rattling off 3 goals in only a few minutes to take a 13-12 lead with 11:00 left. Unfortunately for the Eagles, that was the last of the scoring for the night for them, as the Battlefield defense clamped down and the offense got the 3 back over the next 5 minutes to make it 15-13. The Eagles had chances late, but couldn't solve the Bobcat defense and get good shots down the stretch as Battlefield pulled out the hard fought 15-13 win against the Freedom team many of us thought we'd see this year.

Here we are about to start the stretch run of the season for the first time in 3 years. Not a lot of action last week, but enough to shake things up in the Class 6 poll. Maybe it is not so surprising that the last 2 unbeatens in Class 6 are the 2 state finalists from last year....

1. Langley (4-0) - Back to the top spot with Yorktown losing, but it will be settled April 26th.
2. Madison (2-1) - Went to Florida together on Spring Break and got easy win to bump them up.
3. Yorktown (8-1) - Was real impressive in win over W&L, not so much when 4 starters left them for early Spring break on Friday for Meridian game. Could've stayed #2 for video production of Meridian game, but then the Buckster got worried he was being played for an awfulannouncing.com audition tape.
4. West Springfield (6-1) - Hopes the week off didn't create too much rust.
5. Robinson (6-2) - Hopes the week off didn't create too much rust.
6. Battlefield (5-1) - Two big wins last week. Rematch on April 28th with John Champe could be a good one.
7. Oakton (4-3) - Wasn't quite Ft. Myers like Madison, but a beach trip and a win keeps them fresh.
8. Washington & Liberty (6-3) - Was set to drop after Yorktown game, but now Meridian win looks a lot better.
9. Woodson (5-3) - Hopes the week off didn't create too much rust.
10. Colonial Forge (7-0) - Noted that they could run the table last week, and then went out and almost proved me wrong with OT game vs Mountain View.
11. West Potomac (6-2) - Hopes the week off didn't create too much rust.
12. South County (3-1) - Hopes the week off didn't create too much rust.
13. Justice (3-1) -Hopes the week off didn't create too much rust.
14. Lake Braddock (5-3) - Hopes the week off didn't create too much rust.
15. Westfield (3-3) - Hopes the week off didn't create too much rust.
tie. Freedom SR (4-3) - wins over John Champe and Stone Bridge and classic with Battlefield show that the Eagles are still a threat.

Woodson Cavs doubled up Fairfax 14-7 at the concrete jungle last night. Closest game between the Lions and Cavs in several years.
