Episcopal Houston took a road trip to LA over the weekend.

Went in to Catholic High of BR (2021 state runner up) & got a W
Next day went over to St. Thomas More (Lafayette, LA) & took an L.

Saw that. I want to say "strange" but don't want to insult Louisiana lacrosse. Good for them...

If that was Episcopal Dallas, that would be a very surprising loss. For Episcopal Houston, eh, not a huge surprise.

Houston is pretty good. Not Dallas but still pretty good. http://app.lummys.com/team/7488/2022

I would appear that Episcopal School of Dallas and Dallas Jesuit are the cream of the crop teams this year.

Never count Highland Park or St. Marks out, but ESD and DJ seem to be a cut above the rest. The Woodlands is as bad as they have been in 15 years. While they (and Episcopal going back 10 years) were the team(s) Houston could count on to get a little respect - not so much this year. Could this be the year that the Woodlands actually takes a loss in the South? For 2022 Houston seems to have leveled out - some teams are playing better (EHS and Kinkaid) some worse (Woodlands), some a lot worse (St. John's and Strake).

edit: to say that I meant ESD and St. Marks are the cream of the crop this year, and don't count out DJ and HP.....

There is definitely a top tier of teams this season, with the order may changing based on recent form, injuries, etc. After those 5 , there is a LARGE drop off in quality. If any of those 5 end up winning state, it wouldn't be a surprise, with Jesuit being the favorite at this point in the season.

Jesuit
ESD
Highland Park
St Marks
Westlake

So Coach Pressler was connected to Bryant for numerous reasons but one was that he vacationed in RI. i.e. RI is a great place to wind-down his career. And then he retires. So far, this makes 100% sense. And then he takes a job at a HS in TX? Seems strange, no? Or maybe not...

If you look at the Highland Park school district you will see that they are capable of paying Pressler a LOT of money. It is a public school, and since lacrosse is not state sanctioned in Texas, HP lacrosse is a club sport. That means the parents can pay whatever they want - it is not regulated by the school district or the state in any way. I am not saying they did, but they certainly COULD offer a head coach a very attractive compensation package. If the job also comes with the reins to the feeder program, that would be more $ to sweeten the pot.

The hardest part of his job is going to be keeping all those parents (who are used to getting what they want, when they want it) happy. :?

I'm with you. that was the only answer that made sense to me. $. or... He has grandchildren in Dallas or whatever. But, based on the info I/we have, $ makes the most sense.
