If I drank Bud Light I'd still be drinking it and not give a schidt what anybody thought of that. Never drank it before, still don't.
I use the term 'snowflake' because of conservatives' constant use of the word. Because they're the ones getting upset and offended by something like a beer can with a trans person on it.
And yes, I'm calling people offended by Bud Light advertising to trans people snowflakes. If you're offended by the term snowflake, then that's your right.
There's a difference in being offensive to people who are being hateful and actively harming others vs. being offensive to innocent people who are just trying to live their lives with little to no impact on others.
Couldn't be that they (certainly not restricted to conservative) are just a little tired of trans-activists pushing their agenda and jamming it down everyone's throat? Most just don't care about this (at least I think that) but that squeaky wheel sure is getting a lot of grease these days, the subject is pretty much unavoidable. The Bud Light debacle appears to me to just be the final straw.
It's this sort of argument that truly has me puzzled. A neighbor friend with whom I regularly discuss politics (he's an ex-Trumpist, not 100% captured by right wing media as he's in the markets, so see WSJ, Bloomberg etc...and thinks Fox Business is trash). Very nice guy, but he tends to get on a hot jag at times...likes to see how I'll respond.
He used the same language about "trans agenda" and "jamming down our throats". I mean, really? What's this "agenda", please respect our right to live and be how we want to be, don't bully us, don't beat us up...rather 'ally' with us? Is this 'trans' issue really just the newest way to express distaste for homosexuality in general?
And what the heck is being "jammed down our throats"??? A beer marketer paid a young influencer to tout the beer in a way that was a bit edgy...to her followers...would any of us have ever seen it, much less had it "jammed down our throats" if some right wing digital extremists hadn't picked it up and made a big deal about it? I sure wouldn't have known about it.
And really, Target (and pretty much every other mass market retailer with a customer base that skews younger) displays some rainbow clothing and we go nuts about it? Is anyone making me buy it? No. Heck, when was the last time any of us even went into a Target? I might do so twice a year at most...
Where is all this outrage coming from, really?
Yes, "snowflakes" is the right word for those who liked to bandy that about pejoratively about those who thought police violence was out of hand...
Now, I have multiple friends who are gay, or have family members who are gay, children who identify gender fluid etc, one transitioning I hear. I sure a heck hope these folks can live in a society more accepting of their choices than the one we grew up in...
It's not going to change any of my choices, so why should I get uptight about it?
And I guess it scares some people...
