You're concerned about these gals as opposed to the crooks who are making those decisions now?
Opposed to them but not the thieving and corrupt lobbyists?
Hopefully you'll never need a prescription for that blind R allegiance disease you're suffering from, brotha, cuz those Big Pharma boys aint got no intentions of bringing those skyrocketing meds prices down any time soon. Oh wait, your health insurance will cover all that, right?

Biut I can still get them. Old conservative white guys won't be getting much from the girls in white.

They've already told me to "SHUT UP" and that I should fear them. I'll take them at their word.

Not to worry - they got you covered, especially if you have a pre-existing condition. You won't go bankrupt either if you get really sick.
AND, You’ll get to keep your current healthcare!

Not a problem, fellas. The Republicans promised they'd repeal Obamacare, remember?

So you're all set.

Boy, good thing the Republicans fixed it. Trot on over to the Healthcare thread. After two years of the Republicans being in charge of the problem, aaaaallll the non-stop complaining from the Republicans on the forum disappeared.

Yet Obamacare is still in place. And premiums and deductibles continue to rise. Anyone care to venture a guess as to why all the complaining about Obamacare went away?

No, no blame for the left Afan despite them introducing the POS legislation?

Everyone knows the one thing politicians on both sides wil never do is take away something that people somewhere view as a “freebie.”

It’s political suicide. And it’s why we still have SS and the boomers bleeding the country dry. No one wants to pull that bandaid off either.

Small question: for how many decades to centuries in America have white men in power dictated healthcare options for women and minorities"

Apparently Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Omar, and Hirono are now injecting 6ftstick, kramerica and others with syphilis, forcibly sterilizing them and doing unspeakable damage to generations.

Huh?

No one dictated anything about healthcare in the US before ACA. Quite different now though.

Also, pretty sure most you mentioned didn’t have anything to do with ACA.

Wow, you completely missed everything. I wasn't talking about the ACA, I was talking about politicians making healthcare decisions for Americans.

If you think that no one dictated anything about healthcare in the US before the ACA, you're in severe need of help. You've had government people making healthcare decisions for you since before you were born. For both good and bad.

For the 6 years it was law? Sure. Of course. Completely. Total ***tshow, filled with giveaways to favored donors, and half measures that don't solve problems.

But tt's now Trumpcare. The Republicans had two years to come up with something----anything---better.

They did nothing. All hat. No cattle. 20 years of their horses***t.

All about free markets, and small government, and all their other crap. All lies. They know their base would DROWN in the free market, but if you read their bases' tough guy comments on any news publication, they think they're rugged individualists, to a person. THAT is why they did nothing about Obamacare.

Oh no, no, no.....the ENTIRE platform of the Republican party is that only the Dems give handouts. Only the Dems are bad.

Ask 6ft. The Republican voters don't get freebies. They don't get handouts. They're makers, not takers, remember?

kramerica.inc wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2019 11:26 pm It’s political suicide. And it’s why we still have SS and the boomers bleeding the country dry. No one wants to pull that bandaid off either.
No. The reason we have SS, subsidies for rural internet, billions to farmers for doing nothing, Medicare, etc. is that the American people LOVE socialism and government services. Go to an U Virginia lax game, and catch all those smiling faces, enjoying a fully government provided experience. That's why we still have those things.

The issue is: they don't want to PAY for these things. THAT is the problem. The R's think "someone else" will pay for them. And the D's think "the rich" will pay for these things. They're both ignorant, selfish twats who can't add or subtract. ;)

the real negative about obamacare was the fine/penality for NOT having expensive, poor benefits, health insurance. A Fan misses the easy layup, forgetting that tRump got RID of the penalty. Not sure why that exexOrder isn't being challenged in courts, as it is a tax, and the IRS wants their money. (of course, it will probably be kicked like a can down the road, b/c you still have to pay the fine )

Anyone on these threads ever bought insurance from a state exchange? happy?

But, you are wrong. Requiring vaccinations to attend public school is dictating, and NO, I am not an anti-vaccine person, just some. Ever take a bad, horrible educational class? Waste of time? Would you recommend that class? If no, does that mean you are against ALL edumacation.?

the insanity of the House passing HR-1 today is maddening. Non-citizens allowed to vote? Having read the entire thing yet, but the argument that towns, local school boards to state wide elections......isn't where this wants to go? Illegals voting for state wide offices? If it is, to me, it's a big US Constitutional no no.

You see, since the dawn of the 3 bodies of power in the USA, there have been 174 people appointed....yes appointed....for vacancies to the US Senate. Appointed by the Governor of that state, if the state legislative body so allows. So, yeah, illegals voting for a Governor, who can choose a FEDERAL position> (the argument that illegals can't vote if Federal elections )

I'm not even close....am I

There it is. An ACTUAL, real life lefty. Now FoxNation can set their compass.

Remember how many times I told you guys that Obama was center right or center left, based on the issue?

This is what a real liberal thinks of war, and thinks about our 50 year war in the Middle East.

One liberal shows up in Congress, and you're ready to cash it in?

Well, at least you know how my liberal friends feel about the last 50 years of American governance.

A bit rough having the shoe on the other foot, I guess  ;)

You are missing the big picture a Fan... the real lefty is tearing into the FLP old school liberal wing. You think that the real lefties are interested in peace? Their war is with the US government and the way we do business today. I really don't know what we call the US government today, but what ever that may be the young bucks/buckets are going to upset the applecart if given a chance. You think the old school Libs and conservatives are going to stand by and let that happen? Our government may be fouled up on many levels but the people doing the fouling up ain't ready to hand over the honor to anybody else yet. The newbies are in for a very rude awakening. While AOC is putting on her lipstick with a putty knife Nancy Pelosi is digging out her brass knuckles and sharpening her daggers. I still believe that AOC is clueless about people on both sides that want to take her down. She is about to get an education as to how very ruthless these powerful politicians can be.

I’m obviously not as interesting a read over the past five+ years as (insert your desired)% of other posters here and previously on LP if you don’t see me as a moderate on most issues.

I believe our national debt is an existential threat to our country. My expression of concern is from acknowledgement that our culture is naturally on a continuous, but gradual, movement to the left, now affected by many more politicians who may speed up that trajectory. For the sake of my grandchildren I hope these new politicians are 15 minute wonders.

And don’t misinterpret my concern as just a criticism of Ds. I believe all politicians are the same, they just have different ways and different people that help them make their millions at our expense.

Just two examples - I was dead set against last year’s tax reform, just as I was dead set against the ACA. One lowers tax revenue, the other spends too much of it. But I also don’t believe we can tax a select group of people at astronomical rates. We’re on our way to being Greece, except we won’t have an EU to bail us out.

Our politicians have lost the ability to negotiate. I personally believe a great deal of that is due to the effect of today’s media on the voting population, where there’s no longer any differentiation between fact and opinion.

(I’m also totally on-board with your idea of a consumption tax as an income tax replacement. A per transaction tax on every transaction would be so low that the per transaction tax rate would be unnoticeable, and it would eliminate our politicians picking winners and losers. Unfortunately that last part is precisely why it would never happen, as it would dramatically reduce each poltician’s power.)

Flying down to C'ville tomorrow morning. Bruno's coming by bus for an 11 A.M. game. Surprised the vittles at Klockner are fully subsidized by the U.S. Government. Then why the hell does Hebrew National, Lay's, and Pepsi charge so much? :x

Ya learn sumpin' ever day.
