There is truth to the story of how well the Sound of Freedom movie has done. It had a good July 4 release. The exact numbers are questionable. The company claims $14.2 million IRCC on July 4. This however is high by $2.7 million. They sold $2.7 million "gift certificates" to the July 4 audience to give to friends. The $2.7 million didn't represent audience in seats. July 4th audience in seat number was actually about $11.5 million. Just slightly less than Indiana Jones by $100-200K. IJ gross in its first 5 days, ending July 4th was $82 million. July 4th was clearly not Indiana Jones' best day.

Sound of Freedom was direct marketed to churches by Jesus Christ (Jim Caviezel). A good idea, but comparison of the two movies is silly. The movie itself has an interesting history. It was originally produced by Fox. Disney bought Fox and acquired the property. Disney just put the property in a vault. My understanding is that Fox had completed the movie before Disney acquisition. Angel acquired the film from Disney (in the vault since 2019). If any additional footage was shot and/or the film re-cut by Angel, is not known to me. Angel claims their cost of the film is slightly more than the $14.2 million, so they have basically broken even in 1 day. Whether the actual cost to make the film is really in the $14 million range or not is not known to me. Presumably Angel had to pass money Disney's way to acquire the property.

To YA's point, Disney is not doing as well as they would like. Movie profits for Fantasy, Action Adventure movies have been off for a couple years, this is not just Disney. Cable streaming is eating into the movie numbers. The 4 top 10 movies Disney currently has in theaters are not going to lose money as a group, even with Elemental being the weakest movie ever released by Pixar.

In 2014, I went on a vigilante raid to “save” kids sold for sex. What we did haunts me now.

In 2014, after OUR’s first operation in the Dominican Republic, a local organization called the National Council for Children and Adolescents quickly discovered it didn’t have the capacity to handle the 26 girls rescued. They were released in less than a week.

... interesting article. The 26 girls were nothing but pawns it would seem. The OUR team seems like they cared about these kids after they played their roles as much as the anti-abortionists care about the "children" they save. Not at all.

It occurs to me that being called by God is a grift. Apparently all you have to do is make the claim and that makes it so. What a deal!

How do you pay for these stings when the feds will not fund them....what a foolish backhanded comment for someone that is doing something. good.

You two sound like little cry babies trying your hardest to put down someone doing something far greater than you'll ever recognize. So a guy raises funds saves 26 kids, and all your worried about is that they are not taken care of for the rest of their lives. God forbid one of them was one of your family members....seems the grifters, are are you two.

LMAO. If that makes you feel better about the situation, good for you! Where are those 26 kids now? Whoops.

Seems you'd rather them still be trapped and exploited. Or, maybe you are one of those that is mad the heat is being turned up. Whoops.

I'd rather them be freed and actually taken care of by a responsible organization. Rather than some conspiracy theorist who may be creating demand, and then dumping the kids afterwards without a care in the world. And then asking for praise.

Ideally we'd even stop this kind of stuff before it happens.

You're not thinking about the children here.

Took my kids to elemental a week or two ago. It was pretty lame even by current disney animated standards. And I like a number of the ones created in the last 5-8yrs but it felt like it was just slapped together.

... the legitimate complaints about Disney's business is 1) they are trying to handle too many projects simultaneously; and 2) they are relying too much on existing franchises; and 3) the action adventure / fantasy space is going through an audience slump, probably because of the abundance of such fare available via streaming services.

I saw a new little known Disney movie last week on Disney+ -- "Crater". The premise looked interesting so I watched. A very good kids movie I thought for younger teens. I enjoyed it. Only knock I had was the physical set(s) were a little hoakie. Not Star Wars quality. Seemed half done. Not what you come to expect from Disney.

For those concerned about Disney losing money on their Indiana Jones movie, you can stop worrying. Through first 10 days they have grossed $248 million. $121 million in the US and $127 million foreign. They should more than recoup production costs by this time next week.

The right is whining about Netflix and Amazon not agreeing to host the Sound of Freedom. It is not clear whether the claim is true of not.

The claim.

PS: more complaints of Sound of Freedom sabotage.

People can't understand movie theaters without AC over the past few days in Nevada and Texas.

I went to see Guardians Of the Galaxy 3 Saturday w kids out at camp and they didn’t have the AC on. I nearly stole their Icee machine out of principle.

Get back in line with God!

Conservative Christians think everybody is out to get them, they are misunderstood, the criticism is unfair. Yet their world view, their actions tell a different story.

#1/ Netflix and Amazon are silent on their plans, but no indication they have any plans to host the movie. Industry experts expect that Angel will release the movie to their own streaming service in the fall a few months after theater release. Pretty standard.

#2/ The complaints of AMC theaters sabotaging the movie are totally bogus. The CEO's of Angel and AMC have spoken about the claim. Angel thanked AMC for all their efforts to showcase the movie. The phone call.

#3/ The latest bullsh*t coming from the right is Disney is doing so bad, Iger is going to sell the company in a couple years.

Maybe climate change is conspiring against Disney? Sure must be alot of fun walking all over Disney World with the kiddos in 95 degree heat. Shut up about the heat junior, I told you I would by you the extra small ice cream soon as I scrape up the 20 bucks. I'm still waiting for God to reward me for planting my 1000 dollar seed. The harvest should be soon.
