Do ya think Carc feels Cornell should share the 2009 championship with Syracuse? I mean, Cornell won the "eye test" for 59+ minutes and the game did go to overtime. ;)
Hmm....interesting.

Each Ivy team has a sprinkling (or more) of 5th year guys given a Covid reprieve by the league this year. They add depth, particularly in the midfield, which is often the achillies heel of Ivy teams. I am rooting for 6 Ivy teams in the quarters! Go Bears.

Changing the subject -- if you're on Twitter, you almost have to follow Larken Kemp. Funny (came up with the moniker "The People's Goalie" for Connor Theriault) and honest. Last night he tweeted this: "There are home playoff games and then there is hosting former coach / alum who left you in the middle of the night home playoff games"

I went to the 2017 Tewaaraton ceremony on a whim -- I live in the DMV area and somebody offered me a ticket and Ben Reeves was a nominee (Rambo won that year). I was hanging out at the bar (what can I say? I'm an 1980s product) and I heard a prominent Brown recent player describe how their 2016 coach pulled up stakes and left town without much of any farewell -- the old "Irish goodbye" as it were. In place of great memories of a very special 2016 team and an amazing run, there were definitely some wounds. The then-2016 coach is amazingly successful in his new gig and deserves all the coaching accolades that come his way, but when he is in his more soapbox-ish mode I always remember that night at the Tewey Awards bar. #GoBRUNO

I've always been grateful that Andy Shay didn't take that UVA job (it was rumored they dialed the 203 area code before 401 . . .) But coaching lacrosse in Charlottesville -- tough to turn down, for sure.

he was hired in june? not sure zoom was much of a thing. my guess here is a phone call could've been made individually to all and it wasn't. or a big conference call? he recruited all those guys there and they were rolling. but there would never be any fanfare for someone moving to another gig. most ivies don't pay to keep coaches, tho that may change.

All fair points. By analogy, when somebody breaks up with you, it hurts, no matter if it's done gently. But yes it was my sense back in 2017 and from the Kemp tweet that it felt to the Brown team like they'd been ghosted.

Anyway, despite my admitted stirring of this particular pot, the departure of the prior coach will be ancient history to Brown Lax '22 -- the alums won't be playing the game, the current team will and they won't need any motivation to try to knock of the two-time defending champs (who should be rested and healthier than they've been). Hoping for a great game regardless of the outcome/score.

Hence the endowed coaching chairs?
I'm not sure how generous other Ivies have been, but knowing the numbers on the two endowed Cornell chairs, and the return rates on Athletics gifts to the general endowment, no one's getting monetarily rich coaching at Cornell.
