Great interview. Honestly who wouldn't want to play for this guy? Appreciate his candor regarding how broken the program was in Dom's last year. Didn't realize Lars kicked out 7 players at the beginning.BigTom5 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 1:56 pmMaybe that late flip just wanted more culture in his life?AreaLax wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 7:50 am Cultural Thursdays: A Way To Build A Tradition Of Leadership" with Lars Tiffany, Head Coach, Virginia Cavaliers Men's Lacrosse, University of Virginia

Starsia is one of the all-time class acts of lacrosse; simply a tremendous person. The current UVA HC was happy enough to win two titles with a roster buoyed by Starsia commits like Dox Aitken, Matt Moore, Ryan Conrad, Peyton Cormier, Ian Laviano, and Alex Rode. Fewer people would find the current UVA HC sanctimonious and preachy if he could manage to let other people draw the comparisons between the end of the prior regime (led by his own college coach) and his own (very successful) overhaul of the culture and winning percentage; but he likes to remind people even though he's held the UVA job for most of a decade.Hooz123 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 7:52 amGreat interview. I don't know Starsia personally, but, by all accounts, he's a stand up guy. Haven't heard anything particularly bad about him as a person. His relationship with UVa and the AD has been rehabilitated and Lars Tiffany has helped facilitate that. The breakup was ugly on both sides, but frankly that has nothing to do with Lars Tiffany, so not sure why you have an axe to grind unless you're some extremely biased guy in Dom's circle. Here's the facts: Dom lost control of the program. There was A LOT of stuff happening behind the scenes. And -- what usually happens when you lose control -- you start losing on the field. And objectively, Dom did it to himself. He started to willfully look the other way and lost control of his team. He was also a hypocrite when it came to how he conducted his own program and recruitment, and what he would advocate for publicly as far as rules and regs. Glad all parties seem to have moved on and made peace. But Lars is also a stand up guy and it was time for Dom to go - straight up.The Orfling wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 3:08 pmStarsia is one of the all-time class acts of lacrosse; simply a tremendous person. Re: your point of a lot going on outside of what is known. I like Dom. Last tine i saw him was at Kyle’s wedding. He is a nice man. What happened of the field he did not feel was his primary respondibility.Hooz123 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 4:16 pmI don't know Starsia personally, but, by all accounts, he's a stand up guy. “Sanctimonious and preachy”Don’t be so subtle about your personal view of Lars. Lars is a different cat and not for everyone but his players love him, he wins, and that’s what counts. He also worked tirelessly to bring Dom back into the Virginia fold which is a credit to him. Dom loves him even if you don’t. He runs a clean program. His players graduate and there is a heavy focus on using the Virginia network to connect alumni with players for careers after graduation. The Orfling wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 3:08 pmStarsia is one of the all-time class acts of lacrosse; simply a tremendous person. agreed, not a good look. when you've got guys like hooz agreeing with you, probably not where you want be. guess it's an annual rite of passage in the offseason at uva. maybe it'll change by the 2030 season. The Orfling wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 3:08 pmStarsia is one of the all-time class acts of lacrosse; simply a tremendous person.
