Great rankings but I would put Langley at the top (they are going for a three peat) and have more D1 recruited talent on the field. They have all the pressure Madison and Yorktown are on equal footing until they play but I'm impressed with Madison so far and they are well coached. Big week of games coming up.

Great rankings - Justice and West Potomac squared off at the Annandale tournament so would be curious the outcome of the game and two teams in your top 15. If Centreville now healthy (11-15 loss to Yorktown) they will climb up the rankings too (currently #15).

I project McLean will break into the top 15 next year Spring 2023. They have a lot of younger talented players across multiple travel teams (Capital, Pride, Metro) and should continue to improve over the next couple years.

-Battlefield over C'Ville. The Bobcats didn't win the much-hyped goalie showdown last week, but they still have one of the better ones in goal and it makes the difference for them tonight as they pull out a close one.
-Not sure Robo- Herndon is still happening tonight, as I imagine the Rams wouldn't want to go 3 days in a row (beat Alexandria 20-1 last night, have Woodson tomorrow)
-My head tells me Madison at home over Yorktown in a tight game impacted by the weather tonight somehow (conditions, delays, shortened, etc). Under on the 7 Yellows (not by much), but with the caveat that someone gets two and sits early.

Battlefield - Centreville already postponed due to weather (which means it should stay dry tonight ;) )

Yorktown - Madison suspended for weather just a couple of minutes in. The Pats failed to score on their first possession and the ‘hawks took it down and scored right away for a 1-0 lead when play stopped.

Sort of silly to report anything on a game that lasted 1 min and but here we go! Draw control to Patriots, then a turnover, a turnover by Warhawk's and another a turnover by Yorktown that led to a Tic, Tack Toe Fastbreak. Goalie never had a chance. I managed to get a couple of Chicken Sandwiches for half price! So the Warhawks are not the only one to score. That's all folks!

With FCPS heading to Spring Break, not a lot of action tonight unless you are in the Patriot District where we start off with a good one between old rivals:

Woodson @ Robinson
Fairfax @ W. Springfield
Alexandria City @ So. County

John Champe and Battlefield have their rescheduled game (from earlier this week) at Battlefield as well as the Bobcats hope the 3rd time is a charm for gameday this week (after having to postpone 2 other dates).

Robinson beat Woodson by two, but I don’t know the exact score. Does anybody else? All I know is Checko had a lot of goalie tonight. Past I hears she had five of the seven goals with thirteen minutes left

Battlefield beat Champe 10-6. Battlefield’s goalie went off tonight and had 15 saves

Re: Mid(ish) season rankings

Post by BuckyLou »

With many teams around the halfway point of the regular season, here is my view of this weeks top 15 in Class 6A (records from laxnumbers):

1. Yorktown (6-0) - Hangs on for another week, although Madison reschedule and April 26th date with Langley loom large. Revenge game against W&L this week.
2. Langley (4-0) - Yorktown gets the slight edge for road wins over Dominion and West Springfield, but this debate will be settled on the field.
3. Madison (1-1) - Their first minute against Yorktown looked good. More games will tell us more with their backloaded schedule.
4. West Springfield (6-1) - Defense and goaltending will give them a chance in any game.
5. Robinson (6-2) - Gained their revenge over Woodson Friday.
6. Battlefield (3-1) - While FCPS is on break this week, eyes will be on them with battles against Patriot and Freedom SR.
7. Oakton (3-3) - Travels down to Va Beach area to keep active this week.
8. Washington & Liberty (6-2) - Flying a bit under the radar, showdown with Yorktown on Wednesday is the game of the week to watch.
9. Woodson (5-3) - New regime started slow, but has things going in the right direction as of late.
10. Colonial Forge (4-0) - Not a lot of traps on the defending state runner-ups schedule.
11. West Potomac (6-2) - Living and dying by the shootout so far.
12. John Champe (4-2) - Couldn’t back up nice win over Patriot in the 2nd half of the back-to-back with Battlefield
13. South County (3-1) - Was rolling until Westfield came calling
14. Justice (3-1) - Been playing and winning close ones. Maybe (?) the favorite in the National District (someone has to win it).
15. Lake Braddock (5-3) - Nice win over S. Lakes in the battle of the Lakes gets them in
Tie. Westfield (3-3) - insert S. County for S. Lakes and Compass for Lakes.
