Doubtful we could have beaten UMD, NC, Duke, ND, or UVA.
The other teams in the field, maybe....

maybe rutgers?
we would've gotten someone like georgetown or lehigh. zeisselburger narewksi would've been a nice fight.
playing the #8? maybe in 2022. not this year.

Not sure how to make a definitive statement about 2021. Tournament will separate truth from hyperbole. If, in fact, Maryland turns out to be the best team in the country (which is entirely possible), then it is likely that Hopkins (in their end-of-season iteration) would have had a great chance against most of the teams in the tournament.

#4 Del Dressel - the tremendous midfielder

#32 John J. Krumenacker - that late great player
Two great players.

Dr. Del Dressel ... one play I will always remember was a very simple one ... an opposing player had checked the ball out of his stick, but before it could go anywhere, Dressel nabbed it out of midair like nothing had happened. Incredible stick skills.

As for the late John Krumenacker, I seem to recall that an opposing player wound up big for a shot and then ... nothing ... no one knew where the shot had gone. Then Krumenacker started pointing to his helmet, and suddenly everyone realized it had become lodged in his face mask. The ref pulled it out and resumed play. Important point being ... Krumenacker played pretty aggressive defense and didn’t give an inch on that shot.

Those guys won a couple of national championships together, when Hopkins lacrosse was still ... well ... HOPKINS LACROSSE.

That was against Syracuse.

Might have been the Raining Oranges game.

According to foy, who published something last week that had us playing delaware in the big ten tournament- so take this with a grain of salt, denver is at 68 for this season. The visual this weekend of 28 guys in warmups standing together in the corner is going to be special. Need to tune in for that.

Actually those 28 guys will be in the stands. Even the revised number of 52 on the sidelines is arbitrary and capricious. Where is the study that shows the increase in infection rates with that 53rd person????? Seems with vaccines and testing these days - and lacrosse being OUTDOORS this is not only unnecessary but heartbreaking for the kids who put the work in all season (playing time or not) and get no taste of what they worked for.

Didn't Krumenacker end up playing bass for Camper van Beethoven? Oh, sorry, that was Victor Krummenacher. My bad. Guessing there aren't too many CvB fans on this board, but it was worth a try.
Well there is at least one fan here....... "Take The Pinheads Bowling". :) :) :)

Oranges game was 1988. Unfortunately, our goalie was suspended for that one and it was a blowout.
After that, you couldn't bring fruit into the games anymore.

Dr. Delverne

He did this spin move in the 1983 title game,
a total (in normal conditions) box move.
Dressel’s spin rate must have been the only thing
that kept the ball in his stick, those sticks simply
weren’t capable.
Cradle, spin, plant, shot, score, in milliseconds,
he tried to get them back in that game at the end.

For any (old) BJ fan watching the NC game, does anyone else look at Collin Kreig and think of Kevin Mahon? The speed and aggressiveness of Kreig is like the Elf in the mid-1970's. A reminder of how much an effectively aggressive goalie controls game tempo.

Great young goalie for North Carolina. He’s going to be something the next three seasons.

Jays win over Rutgers looking real good as Scarlet Knights beat Lehigh 12-5 for their first NCAA tournament victory in 31 years.

Blue Jays are a promising team with terrific young talent and some excellent veterans. I think Hopkins lacrosse will return to prominence in 2022 and 2023.

I would claim it was 84 or 86. More likely 86. I could be wrong.

I’m referring to when so many oranges were thrown, Bob Scott ran over to the wooden stands and was yelling at everyone to STOP. Also, Simmons got hit in the head, and had just recently had some kind of neck or head surgery.

His head was beet red too.

WOOF, Lehigh stinks. Best team in the PL got clobbered by a B1G team we beat last week? Should be encouraging.

you didn't answer my question(s). their best player averages almost 4.5 pts per game.

so on just this page... we have people bouncing oranges off coach's heads and beating their chest after a 3 and 9 season at the expense of a tangential team. small wonder why peeps sometimes have a problem with some hop fans? and by extension their team(which i don't)?

This was the first time all season Rutgers held their opponent to fewer than 9 goals. Lehigh scored 5. They had 5 goals.
