Our genomes are a combination of DNA from both our mother and father. However, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) comes solely from our mother. This is because the female egg contains large amounts of mitochondrial DNA, whereas the male sperm contains just a tiny amount. The sperm use their small amount of mitochondria to power their race to their egg before fertilisation. Once a sperm merges with an egg, all the sperm mitochondria are destroyed.

Your mitochondrial DNA is almost exactly the same as your mother’s and her mother’s.

As a result, mitochondrial DNA is described as being matrilineal (only the mother’s side survives from generation to generation). So, your mitochondrial DNA is almost exactly the same as your mother’s and her mother’s. Mitochondrial DNA has been extensively used by evolutionary biologists, as it is easier to extract than DNA found in the nucleus? and there are many copies to work with.

However, Mitochondrial Eve wasn’t the first or only woman on Earth at that time. She was simply the point from which all modern generations of human appear to have grown. Evolutionary biologists think the most likely reason for this is that an evolutionary ‘bottleneck’ occurred during the time Eve was alive. This is when the majority of a species suddenly dies out, perhaps due to a sudden catastrophe, bringing it to the brink of extinction. If Mitochondrial Eve was one of the few women to survive then this could explain why her ‘matrilineal’ mitochondrial DNA ended up being passed along so many generations.

Arizona supreme court finds that the Mormon Church does not have to report child sex abuse as long as the abuser confesses to the church authority. Sweet gig they have! They can sexually abuse their favorite targets, young girls and woman and their is zero accountability.

Last year Tennessee legislature tried to secretly remove the lower limit on the age a female can be married. They were caught and embarrassed / public pressure used to stop the stupidity. Of course this was all about the godliness of this practice in the eyes of the patriarchy.

More republiCON christian scum!

Have you heard the joke about a good Christian high school boy and his girl friend in eastern Tennessee? The girl friend decided she was going to give it up. The boy asked her if her father had ever had her. She answered no. The boy asks her "if you're not good enough for you own father, why do you think you're good enough for me?"

I am 1/4 of the way through Under The Banner of Heaven. It is incredibly disgusting. Men manufacturing young girls to be raped by guys like them. Instead of sharing pornography, they actually produce young girls to be molested. Remarkable. The child abush is only rivaled by the Welfare abuse. This ain’t your father’s “Welfare Queen”….

'In a truly distressing Netflix documentary series, Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey takes you deep inside the story of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS), an offshoot of Mormonism, in a harrowing tale about its polygamist practices, pedophilia and its disgraced leader Warren Jeffs.

“When I was 14-years-old, they forced me to marry my cousin,” Elissa Wall says right at the beginning of the series. “I asked Warren, begged him, please don’t make me get married and he said, ‘do you believe that you know better than the prophet and if you’re questioning me you’re questioning God.’”

In the four-part documentary, with never-before-seen archival footage from the FLDS communities in the U.S., director Rachel Dretzin exposes the cult and Jeffs like we’ve never seen before, largely through the perspective of the women who escaped, who bravely document the cult’s abuse.

“It is hard to prove, and law enforcement and politicians are not very interested in disrupting families,” Utah attorney Roger Hoole says in the docuseries about enforcing polygamy laws. “I think most people in Utah, the mainstream Mormons, people like me, see polygamy as an embarrassment.”

“But polygamy’s really not the problem anyway, it’s the secondary crimes that occur in a closed religious society controlled by men. That’s when all sorts of mischief can take place and that’s what happened with the FLDS.”'

"Mischief?" What the heck century is this person living in?

I haven’t seen it but will take a look. It’s absolutely disgusting. This is why Elizabeth Smart was abducted and “married” and raped pretty much everyday. Someone had tipped police off early but they ignored the tip. The welfare scam is almost as bad.

People talk about these “Islamic Extremist” communities where the police don’t enter…..well this is true of mormon fundamentalists communities in the upper northwest and into British Columbia. This is 2023.

... actually this action to "cancel" Turbo Tax will take up enough of their time and energy, they will not be able to harass as many LBGQT folks directly.
