Edge Lacrosse, Dillon Ward was Edge Lacrosse.

6’3” - 6’4”, 190 or so.
A 2022, uncommitted,
Collison and Peshko would know what this guy can do,

https://www.insidelacrosse.com/recruiti ... commitment

https://sportsrecruits.com/athlete/colin_korry
I have zero info but I feel like Zborowski, the other '22 Edge goalie (from Everest Academy), is more likely.

One would hope we can land one of the top '23 goalies, given that the competition in front of him is probably going to be a bit lighter than it is at other similar programs.

Lol - yes all being equal I like bigger goalies - still now a gaping hole - past 23 it's all Sgt Friday right now. Again, I don't pretend to understand the nuances of BBerg's philanthropy and the trickle down economics of it to the lacrosse team but it would appear reasonable to think a bare bones roster size would allow you to be extremely competitive in a situation like this - identify the goalie or goalies you are interested in and throw money at the problem.

Martin was one of my favorite stories from the end of last year. Hopefully w/fall ball this year there's more opportunity to discover those kinds of talent on the roster earliier and develop them.

The goaltending issue you raised is a good one and it's not something that gets discussed a lot because there have been so many other issues. If you look at the decade maryland lacrosse has enjoyed they've been able to usually identify goaltenders at a young age and then have them deliver consistent 520 or better save percentages while for the most part it's been in the 40s of late and low 50s earlier for us. Obviously we have different staffs and different schedules but it just feels like a lot of mays have been spent watching them w/familiar consistency in net while we're out because we could not stop shots.

First '23 commit: Nick Bruckner, 6'3'' middie at Ward Melville. Younger brother of former Duke star Jack Bruckner. Uncle played for the Jets.

Good news. I like (a) that he's big, likely athletic (with that lineage), and an actual middie and (b) that he's from a power program on LI. We know that the staff can recruit from Canada and non-hotbeds, we don't really know how they'll do in the MIAA and on LI. So yeah, good news.

The early returns on LI are actually quite good. Kept Todaro, got '22s Trepeta and Smith, brought in Maher, now Bruckner. I bet there will be at least one or two more in this class. Cornell's roster is filled with guys Milliman recruited from Manhasset, Chaminade, Cold Spring Harbor, Massapequa, Garden City, etc.

MIAA less so but that may be in part intentional.

UVA, Duke, and Maryland have been noticeably quiet recruiting so far which makes me think one (or all) of them is about to make a big move.

Fair point re LI. It did very much surprise me that the one 2021 Petro recruit who stuck around was the Italian defenseman from a public school on LI. Seems like - perhaps counterintuitively but almost definitely intentionally - that PM's recruits are a little more blue collar than Petro's.

Um, because I was drawing a comparison between Todaro and the head coach who initially recruited him, who was, well, an Italian defensemen from a public school on LI?

Don't see the need to use ethnicity. Were the Thompsons Indian attackmen? Was Jared Bernhardt a Jewish attackman?

That seems a touch too sensitive for my taste. But yes, I would think that the possible shared cultural affinity between one of the Thompsons and a Native attackman he was recruiting might be worthy of noting, and I don't believe there would be anything remotely offensive about doing so.

Now that's a fair criticism. I thought he was a public school kid, but maybe I was wrong about that.

Petro went to a Catholic school that he noted did not have a FB team. Must have been fairly small.

Is Bernhardt even Jewish? I don't think he is. This comment is awarded one very big YIKES.

Anyway, back to recruiting...

IL 4-star Chuck Rawson visited recently and met with fellow Edge alumni Peshko and Raposo: https://www.instagram.com/p/CT5Kmy3Lxe8/

One little scheduling piece of info - very little - recently received my Alumni weekend promotion card in the mail - they have moved it up to March 27-29 I believe which I think should convey that a home game will be that Saturday. They did not say anything about the lacrosse game however but since its supposed to be an in person event - logic says a home game that week-end. That is the back-end of the students Spring Break and if memory serves me correct - it has recently been the week-end of the first BIG conference game.

It could be the UVA game.
