Well, Congress could actually hold them accountable. Keep breaking them up into smaller pieces until they can pass a simple audit the governs every single organization on the freaking planet.

But that's asking too much of a our military in the computer age, apparently, so here we are.

This is SOP now for the Pentagon. Its acceptable now that our military can't account for its own operations. What was it Eisenhower warned us about....I forget.

Thoughts on Wagner Chief claiming Russian military bombed his forces and calling for rebellion?
Ukraine invaded under false pretenses?

There are now whispers of a coup in Russia.

https://www.cnn.com/europe/live-news/ru ... index.html

Of course, a coup is not actually taking place, but just the fact that the subject is being raised by Russian military bloggers is astounding.

What the f*ck?!?

Russian commander urges Wagner mercenaries to "stop" and "obey the will" of President Putin

From CNN's Mariya Knight, Yulia Kesaieva, Katharina Krebs and Darya Tarasova

Sergey Surovikin, Russia’s top commander in Ukraine, urged Wagner mercenary fighters on Friday evening to "stop" and to "obey the will" of President Vladimir Putin.

"I’m addressing the leadership, commanders and fighters of Wagner. Together with you, we have traveled a difficult and hard path. We fought together, took risks, suffered losses and we won together. We are of the same blood. We are warriors. I urge you to stop, the enemy is only waiting for the internal political situation to worsen in our country," Surovikin is seen saying in a video posted to Telegram by a Russian state media reporter.

"You can’t play into the hands of the enemy in this difficult time for the country. While it is not too late, please obey the will and the orders of the Russian Federation’s president that was elected by the masses," Surovikin said. "Stop the columns, bring them back to the points of permanent dislocation and communication areas... Solve all the problems peacefully under the leadership of the Commander in Chief of Russian Federation."

Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alekseev, a Russian intelligence official, also posted a video criticizing Wagner's actions on Friday, saying "This is a coup d'etat."

According to Russian media, a plan known as "Operation Fortress" has been activated in the city of Rostov-on-Don - which lies about 100km east of the Ukrainian border.

Essentially, it is a plan for personnel to be in "full readiness", 161.ru reported.

The plan has also reportedly been activated in Moscow which would ensure Kremlin buildings are protected.

While the exact actions are a state secret, there are reports that the entrances and exits to the Interior Ministry building are currently blocked and military vehicles have been positioned in some Moscow locations.

It leaves more appropriated funds available for future weapons acquisitions for Ukraine.

The Pentagon based it on replacement costs, not what the weapons transferred from existing stocks originally cost. Not an unreasonable way for the Pentagon to value the true cost to the US.

Prigozhin is Putin's ally. He's challenging Russia's military leadership, not Putin.

This will not end well for Prigozhin.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group, has threatened to march on Moscow after confirming that his fighters now control military buildings and the airport in Rostov.

He said that he had met with a deputy Russian defence minister and would hand back control of the city if Sergei Shoigu, the Russian Defence Minister, and Valery Gerasimov, the head of the Russian military, are handed over to him. He blames them for poor military leadership and for unnecessarily killing thousands of Russian soldiers.

“Until they are no more, we will stay here, blocking the city of Rostov and then we will go to Moscow,” he said in a video shot in the centre of Rostov.

Rostov is the main military headquarters for Russia’s top commanders directing the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.

In the video, Mr Prigozhin wears a military uniform and is armed. Other videos clearly showed heavily armed fighters wearing Wagner badges strolling around the city and taking up defensive positions.

“We are not running away. We came to stop the shame of the country in which we live,” he said. “We are saving Russia.”
