You ignored the size of our economies. We're 50% larger. But not 50% larger in economic support of Ukraine. So, "disproportionate" is false.
If you simply said the US contributes more $ in aid than Europe, fine...but that wasn't the claim.
Disproportionate was claimed. And proportionality is indeed relevant.
Economically, after WW-II, we found ourselves on third base, & you now claim we hit a home run.
Wrong sports analogy. We found ourselves on the back half of the track, with nearly all other countries at the starting line, with a set of hurdles to get over before even getting started running. Lucky for us.
31 M1A1 tanks just arrived in Germany. They're not combat ready but they're adequate for training the crews who will take delivery of 31 more M1A1's still being rehabbed & made combat ready by Lockheed Marin, sched to arrive in the fall.
That's part of what Zelensky is waiting for.
Yes, those are still coming, and much more behind that.

Perfect day for banana fish.
“There are unconfirmed reports that another plane and helicopter has crashed, in what appears to be a disastrous day for Russian aviation. Moscow Telegram channels reported that an SU-35 warplane had been shot down too, together with a second Mi8 helicopter.
Another military helicopter crashed on Friday in Crimea. It was unclear whether the two aircraft and two helicopters were downed on Saturday because of friendly fire, or if the Ukrainians targeted them with missiles.”

"No matter how critical I am of Putin - Putin is currently the only legitimate figure in the Russian Federation," he said. If Putin was dislodged from power "it would mean the collapse of Russia," he said.
Not possible. Putin is playing chess, and everyone else is playing checkers.
Someone needs to print out Obama's "The 80's called, and wants it's Foreign Policy Back", frame it, and give it to both Romney and Putin as a gift.

There's been a big shift in Germany, where they had, since the end of WWII, never sent military aid to a conflict area, and so had focused on helping with the humanitarian side of Ukraine's needs. Now they've broken that 70+ years of non-military assistance...we just committed another $1.2B of military
Dreams of Europe faltering in their support for Ukraine winning this war as just pipe dreams. Give them up.
If the EU is finally really all in, Ukraine will be just fine if the US cuts back in EUrope & shifts resources to W PAC & helping Taiwan.
Or if we use our non-military aid given to Ukraine to actually do something to address the root causes of illegal migration in our hemisphere with something more than empty rhetoric.

Want some cheese with that whine?
How about we continue to help Ukraine defend itself, retaking its sovereign territory in alliance with western democracies, sending a clear signal about the strength and resolve of such alliance and a clear repudiation of authoritarian aggression?
Want to deal with immigration in our hemisphere, then fund our asylum services both in the US and in our southern neighbors, institute full immigration reform, and fund foreign aid and democratic reform.
Nah, MAGA GOP wouldn't want to do that...
BTW, what do you think are the "root causes of illegal immigration" to the US?

This has been as plain as the nose on our faces for decades now. If the Rs and Ds actually wanted to fix the problem on our southern border it would have been fixed years ago. Instead it continues to be a festering sore with no first aide in sight. There is no plan where to settle all of these people and there is no plan on the horizon. These folks will need food, clothing, shelter, medical care and much more support for 100s of thousands of new arrivals. How much does all this cost and who pays the tab?

This issue didn't suddenly materialize overnight. These caravans are well organized and financed by someone. The issue now is what is the plan to take care of all these people so they don't simply fall through the cracks.a fan wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 11:48 amYour 'immigrant caravan is headed for the border" post is from 2018, Cradle.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 11:32 am This has been as plain as the nose on our faces for decades now. My blame falls squarely on Trump. This is THE issue he ran on. And then did nothing about it.
No fixes. No bills. Nothing more than a bandaid.
Hell, even i was dumb enough to give him the benefit of the doubt when he claimed he'd go after businesses that hire illegal workers.
If he had done that ONE THING? This whole thing would be over.
Naturally, the man who built his fortune at his casinos and properties using illegal workers wasn't going to lift a finger.
So.....I'm done caring. Obviously this isn't a big deal to voters and Americans. I'll care when they do. And not just feigned care when the Dems are in office.

I think you have to rewind back to the Reagan era. Ronnie cut the amnesty deal with the condition the folks in Washington would secure the border. Why was that not done? Everybody forgets about that. I guess it wasn't a priority in DC in the mid 80s? To be fair it's not like it is any politicians priority today either.a fan wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 12:10 pmMy point is, we've had plenty of time to fix these issues.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 11:56 amThis issue didn't suddenly materialize overnight. Dem voters? It ain't a plank. It ain't a priority. This is an R issue.
It's the reverse for guns. Fixing it is a D priority....Bidens done nothing.

Re: All Things Russia & Ukraine
I know that trump talked about the border. Talk is cheap when you don't back it up. At this point in time playing the blame game is futile. There are mind boggling numbers of these folks being sprinkled all over the country. The common theme is everywhere they are being sent the mayors of these cities have been blunt about saying they don't have the resources to properly help these people. So the only solution is to keep sending them to other cities and towns that also don't have the proper resources. How are these people going to be fed, clothed, provided shelter and health care among many other things. The government is the only entity with the resources to do what is necessary. Time for Joe to sign an executive order that can provide the resources and money to start to address a problem that is getting worse by the day with no end in sight. By default our country has now become responsible for providing for these people. As a nation we have no other option but to step up to the plate. It won't long before these people start being victimized by the folks who resent them even being here. Is there any plans in place to find a way to educate all these young children? There certainly is much work that needs to be done ASAP. We need a hero right now in the worst way, I should say heroes.a fan wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 12:31 pmOh, I agree. This should have been done 12 months ago so that we could have used the resources to secure our southern border…… Zelensky and Biden have just made this thing worse.
