Maryland played Loyola in basketball this year.

All the coaches are friends off the field. If friends didn't want to play eachother, there would be no games.

You would think the two best teams in Maryland in recent years would make an effort to play one another. My guess is Loyola is game.

personally what if there was some Maryland invitational between Loyola, Hopkins, Maryland, Towson, UMBC, MSM, and Navy?

Yale needed ot to beat UMass, while undefeated OSU (5-0) beat UMass 11-7 on the road 2 weeks ago. Another solid win 13-9 by OSU against Marquette at SMU today.

Cornell (3-0) stays undefeated beating Albany 17-16

Towson (4-0) after beating Loyola midweek

The Terps (5-0) take on Notre Dame tomorrow at Notre Dame (indoors).

Another crazy week. With both #1 and potential mid week #1 losing.

It is hard to rank ND and PSU. They are tough to beat at home indoors. But, that advantage goes away soon. Winning at home is a lot easier. I don't think the polls take account of travel and home field advantage enough.

I would rank the teams:

1. Towson
2. Cornell
3. Yale
4. Maryland
5. Duke
6. Denver
7. Yale
8. Ohio State
9. Penn State
10. Loyola
11. Notre Dame
12. Villanova
13. High Point
14. Virginia
15. Syracuse
16. Army
17. Johns Hopkins
18. Georgetown
19. Navy
20. Michigan

I'd put Yale 4th behind Maryland. 3rd is too high and 7th too low. ;)

Cornell is 3-0 but appears very vulnerable.

If Towson beating Loyola was impressive enough to jump them to #1 I don't know why Loyola would fall all the way to #10

Agreed. I guess you can tell that I was a bit schizophrenic on Yale :D

Maryland drops and Notre Dame rises with today's result. What's Maryland's quality wins? Richmond?

Navy is a quality win.

There used to be a great fall tournament that UMBC hosted back in the 90s:

Each year it was Loyola, Towson, Hopkins and UMBC

Fallball or not, those were some epic games!

Ohio State is 5-0 and has won all their games by 3 or more goals. I think OSU should be #4 this week.

I think OSU is still struggling with a lower ranking based on last year.

I don't think these wins get them #4.

02/02 vs Cleveland State W 12-9
02/09 vs Boston University W 17-10
02/16 @ UMass W 11-7
02/23 vs Bucknell W 16-13
03/02 vs Marquette W 13-9

Yale only beat UMass by 1 at Yale.
I would note that that vs Marquette is a neutral field game in Texas.

Yale benefits from starting at #1 which they deserved
Yale beat PSU when Penn State was ranked #1

Ohio State has not beaten top ranked team yet

What do you think UMass should be ranked?

I think Towson is in line for their first #1 ranking ever. After pasting JHU and never trailing against Loyola (and a nice win against a quality G-Town squad), I can't see the voters putting a one loss team in front of them.

What are Cornell's big wins?

I’m missing the Cornell thing. Monday if they win vs Towson- sure.

I agree Cornell does not have any big wins either

02/22 @ Hobart W 19-16
02/24 vs Lehigh W 14-9
03/02 vs UAlbany W 17-16

But, Cornell started with a pre-season ranking at #5, and OSU started at #16.

I'm not sure Cornell deserves to be that high based on the games I've watched.

We will see on Monday.
