DeSales at 8-0 can’t break the Top 20?

I don't think they've played the schedule to get in the top 20- DeSales went to overtime w/ Montclair -Salisbury beat Montclair 23-1- Currently, the 20th ranked team is Lynchburg who only lost to Salisbury by two. Do you think DeSales is better than Lynchburg?

March 31. York beat Christopher Newport, W&L beat Roanoke, Union beat Clarkson, Southern Virginia beat St. Marys (MD), and, a pretty big upset, Trinity beat Bowdoin. Computer Rankings (Mar. 31, 2019).

I'm good with top 6 spots. IMHO, based on the games I have seen Bates & Williams are rank to low- they should be top 10. Union is low as well, I believe them to be better than #20. Some teams get the benefit of the doubt based upon reputation and just overrated, which I have a problem with but it is what it is.

However, After this week of play come next Monday; the NESCAC may actually have 7 legit top 20 teams with the addition of Middlebury and Trinity (yes, I said Trinity) if they both are able to take both games. The play and the abilities of these team have risen to the next level.

We thought the same thing. :) Bottomline, they play a tough schedule so they do well within our system. Doesn't mean the Seagulls aren't better. But based on Ws and Ls, they're flourishing.

This has Lynchburg ranked #21, #4 in the South.
They aren’t in top 20 in other rankings..😳
Is SOS the or loss margins against ranked common opponents the difference?

It maybe inaccurate, there are scores that are wrong and teams showing losses when they actually won. In looking at this would Williams get an additional 10 point boost or better over Amherst because they got a win over Trinity who is actually 8-3 not 7-4? the bant's show loss to RM when they actually won that game and their only losses would be to #2,#5 & #8, and that mat give the Ephs a higher score and make the #1 :?:

FanLax is a terrific forum and is greatly appreciated by all its users, especially me. That said its current D III rankings don't meet the GCBT Test. Sorta like the Bumblebee Algorithm Theory as advanced by Mary Kay and Mike Huckabee.

Williams and Wesleyan (two first rate academic institutions) each with two losses ranked above a Berkman coached undefeated team. For academic prestige among a sub group of the US population, I agree; but for men's lacrosse, No Way. Salisbury drops from #1 to #6 after winning a game 21 - 6.* Change the formula. YCP @ #7 is almost as bad.

* Not to denigrate FSU but 3 of those 6 goals appeared stoppable. The starting goalie was pulled at the half after allowing 4 goals and 3 saves.

Ephs are not the best team in the country by any measure. A very good team, yes...
No twisted logic can make it so.

No disrespect, a 2 goal lost to Wesleyan at Wesleyan where no one gets a call except the Cards and a 1 point loss in Medford to Tufts. Wins over legit #1 Amherst, Bates, Union, Colorado, & Trinity (who would win the LL easy) ..., to say by any measure is stupid. Other than RIT in the north, GULLs & York in the south you have 5-6 very legit solid team in the NESCAC that I would put up against anyone.

Best Ws, Worst Ls is not twisted logic. Williams may very well not be the best team in D3 lacrosse, but based on their Ws over Amherst, Bates, and Union and their only losses being vs. Wesleyan and Tufts, they have the best resume. So, Salisbury may be better than Williams but, even with no losses, their Ws over Cabrini, Gettysburg, and Lynchburg are not as impressive.

Trinity would win the LL easy?!

But Salisbury doesn't have any losses. That must not count as much in your formula.

And what about weight given for strength of coaching staff. Berkman, Axel, Sandlin, Cirillo, Miller, Block and Gallagher have a few NC rings among them. Name a team sport where coaching doesn't play a factor in games.

That is last week’s poll. There will be movement this week to account for wins and losses this past week. Interested to see how the top NESCAC teams are ranked.
