They do have six different goal scorers and six different players with assists so far tonight. Six goal scorers and five players with assists in the Syracuse game. It's not like Scane's the only one doing the work.

And, of course, as I say this, Izzy Scane scores her eighth goal of the evening lol
At what point does scoring 10 points a game hurt the team more than help it?
Who knows? They are winning, though, so ::shrug::

And make that 11 points now.

Actually, make that 12.

NU timeout. Time for more of the bench to come in?
Shrug is right. Don’t get me wrong Scane is a phenomenal player, but if I was a coach I just couldn't support that style of offense.
In women's lacrosse you can't have a one woman offense and expect to win at a high level. Every coach and former player will tell you that. Izzy Scane all but has he has the Tewey wrapped up but cmon..Get some of the other players in, run offensive sets not just give it to Izzy and see what happens.
9 players have taken shots for Northwestern in this game. 7 of them have scored goals.

Anyone can take shots. you're missing the point. What's NW offensive identity? They rely more on Scane than BC did with North.

I'm not sure it's possible to tell what their offensive identity is as we're just now finishing the second game of the season, Scane didn't even play at all last year, and the team is pretty different from last year.

It just seems like you're complaining because Izzy Scane is so good.

Upset of the evening was Army going to Jacksonville and getting the win 12-10 which may see Jacksonville drop out of the rankings this week

That’s a little misleading as 4 in row came in the last minute and a half when NU had the bench in

I watched the game, didn’t seem to me that Izzy was forcing anything. She was just flat out the best player on the field…by far.

BC has gone to 4 straight title games, winning one. I wouldn’t tell them it doesn’t work.

It was close all the way, it didn't just end with them in lead, they had it by 2-3 earlier in the game too.

BC had Smith, Weekes, Medjid, Mossman, Martello. They were all very capable if North had an off game. If Scane scores less than 2 goals in a game with this NW team, who's scoring? are they beating anyone? if you have to think about it, the answer is no.

I'm not sure how it makes sense to be so critical of the NU offense relying too much on Izzy Scane after two games of the season, especially when in one of the games NU had another player score as many goals as Scane.

Balanced, unbalanced, or whatever, Izzy is sure going to have some defensive coaches burning the midnight oil.

Oh sure. But the point remains that in two games, yes, we’re seeing that Scane is obviously important to the NU offense, but maybe we can wait a bit longer before saying she’s all NU has.

Remember, until tonight, the last time she played at home in front of family and friends, including former teammates, was 2021. I understand completely if she was fired up and really wanted to go for it in scoring goals.

It may turn out after a few more games that the NU offense does deserve such criticism. For now, though, maybe it’s still a bit early.

Lets hope so because ND had no game plan whatsoever. Random defenders on her, no lock off, never even slid with a second defender when she drove. They even left her open on cuts. Someone who watched the game give me 1 defensive scheme ND tried on Scane.

I couldn’t watch the game because I wasn’t paying for it lol. But I was following the stats and from what I saw about half of scanes goals were assisted. so I don’t really understand the problem if she’s getting herself open, why shouldn’t she score as many as possible?

Agree. Six of her goals were assisted, four unassisted. How many of the unassisted were FPSs which very well could have been set up by what would have been an assist but she couldn't shoot because of shooting space? She also had two assists.
Somebody here doesn't like the way she plays...oh well.

It should be interesting to see what BC does about Scane. Deny her the ball, slide early when she gets it, double always, make someone else beat them...

In any case, Izzy Scane haters should take a seat and get comfortable. This season is just starting...and she still has one more year of eligibility that she's already said she'll be using at Northwestern.

Scane Haters? Didn't see that. I think questioning more than half your goals in an 18 goal game from a single person is a valid observation.

While I agree two games into the season is too early to put that stamp permanently on this team it was last evening.

Sure, but let's also keep the context in mind: it was her first game in two years in front of friends and family and former teammates (a bunch of alumni, like Lauren Gilbert and Brennan Dwyer were present) on her home field. I'm sure she and the team felt lots of excitement for her, and I'm sure the fans were excited to see her, so if the plays were working out for her to be taking the shots she was taking, well...why not?
